The Story As I See It Behind the New Book Out On Trump- "American Kompromat"

 


Most of us are now aware of a new Book coming out which purports to document a 40 year operation by the KGB, the Soviet Intelligence services, and later the FSB, the Russian Spy Agency, to cultivate Donald Trump as an "asset", through a sustained campaign. It is called "American Kompromat, How the KGB Cultivated Donald Trump, Related Tales of Sex, Greed, Power, and Treachery", by Author Craig Unger.

I haven't yet read it, so I can't review it today. However I am posting this brief "Guardian" interview below with Unger's principal source, former KGB Officer Yuri Shvets. As important as is what Shvets divulges for the book, is who he is, and what he is connected to.

Shvets is not a "run of the mill" defector who is dishing on Trump as part of a grift. He is the former Partner of Alexander Litvinenko, a former KGB Spy who was murdered with Tea poisoned with Polonium on orders of Vladimir Putin while living in exile in England. It is short, but it will give you an indication of who Litvinenko was, and what Shvets represents. Shvets is what you could call a "resistance leader" to the regime of Putin, part of a Network of survivors of the regime who know things about him that they aren't supposed to, and are therefore marked for death. He is no small fry. And he is multiply connected to those leading opposition figures remaining behind in Russia who are exposing the corruption and lies of the regime.  Therefore, without reading it yet, I take Unger's book seriously, notwithstanding the salacious Tabloid headline of a title.

There is no doubt in my mind that Trump has been a Russian asset, by virtue of the actions over the last five years of his campaigns and Presidency. Russian State Media has openly bragged that Trump was "theirs". The question still remaining is, "is Trump a conscious Russian Agent as opposed to just an asset"? Or has he gradually become that?

Shvets in his interview here compares the recruitment process of Trump to that of the infamous "Cambridge Apostles", the British MI-6 Spies who were exposed as Soviet Agents in the 1950's and 60's. The whole network was laid bare with the defection of the most infamous British Double Agent, Kim Philby on his flight to Lebanon. It included at least four others, Donald Maclean, Guy Burgess, Anthony Blunt, (the Queen's personal Art collector) and John Cairncross.

Philby did the most damage, since he was stationed in Washington DC, and was instrumental in setting up and recruiting agents to the new American CIA, right under the nose of counterintelligence director J.J. Angleton.  There were others in the ring who attended Cambridge, or Trinity College like Blunt.

Up until 9-11, the Soviet recruitment and deployment of the Cambridge network was considered the most destructive intelligence failure in US history. Therefore Shvets' allusion to the Philby Ring in this context implies that the placement of Trump, as a long time Russian asset in the White House is the greatest intelligence failure ever. The 9-11 attacks caused the deaths of 3,000 innocents. The Presidency of Donald Trump will have caused 600,000 deaths, and millions more permanently impaired. As I will be reading this book, that is my gestalt. Not the jazzy gossipy bullshit about who Trump has been f**king. Pardon my French.

Milton Friedman- The Man Who Revived Fascist Economics, and Called It "Freedom".

  You may have heard the name before, as he was featured in a PBS Series, titled "Free To Choose", also the title of his most famous and misnamed book. He was a prolific author, and widely publicized by Conservative News Media and Magazines, especially by the followers of William F. Buckley. In fact, Milton Friedman is the current top economic advisor to the so-called "movement conservatives", from Nixon to Reagan, to Newt Gingrich and Trumpworld,  and is still to this day the main architect of the GOP approach to dealing with the present economic crisis, though he has been keeping a low profile. How Do You Know If What You Are Reading Is True Or Useful? - A One Year Old Facebook Post

 How do we know whether what we are reading is true, or for that matter useful? There are many journalists in the US today who are not only excellent writers, but are just good people. They are well informed, have the best intentions and are highly professional.  I have to force myself to write, and it comes with great difficulty because I am blocked, and had little journalistic training. Without an editor I feel lost, and feel as though I want to rewrite everything or throw it out after I read it. Reading books and articles is my favorite hobby, and when I'm doing that I am in my happy place.  As of now I have 30 News and Magazine sites bookmarked and I read them everyday as a routine. I usually read anywhere from 2-10 articles in each, depending upon what newsworthy events are breaking that day. Plus I have a number of books on history that I have going at any one time.
