I actually have none yet, in the traditionally accepted sense. I have no degree or teaching position, have very few published articles or Press mentions, have never had an official government position (Though I have consulted for and advised elected officials) and as of now have not yet published a book. (There is one in process) in fact, I've only in the past three years taken a serious approach to writing.  So if you Google me you will find that I have a political Blog. That is it. For the record, I am not specifically "anti-war" only in a generic sense of having myself worked for 40 years to help nations avoid it. As the great Greek philosopher Plato said, "only the dead have seen the end of war". I'm honored and happy to have earned that degree of trust.  Honestly I don't know what will happen. It depends on what is going on behind closed doors. The sanctions will have a big impact, but will not deter Putin in the least from doing what he feels necessary. Remember that the official death toll for Russia in WW II was 20 million, but it is thought to be closer to 50 million. Russians will absorb incalculable casualties, pain and suffering both to defend the sacred soil of "Holy Matuschka Rus" and also will willingly suffer at the hands of their Czar.   Last year in January, I wrote here that Putin would invade Ukraine within a year. My Blog address is on my Facebook profile. Click on it, and enter "Russia, Putin " in the search bar.   You have heard recent reports from Biden Administration officials warning of Vladimir Putin's likely use of a "false flag" operation to justify his impending invasion of Ukraine. It is useful to reflect on two things as we see this unfold. First is that this is the method of autocrats and tyrants for as long as there have been historians to chronicle these events. To criticize or denounce the policies of the extreme religious right-wing coalition parties of Israel is not "anti-semitism".  Defending the human rights of Palestinian Arabs is not "anti-semitic".   I had what one might call a conversation the other day with a "muscle guy" from Texas here at my Gym. (Here, is in Southern Mexico) Somehow, because he was loquacious, as Texas Boys can be, we got into a back and forth.  He said that he is moving here, but wherever he lives, what's important to him is "liberty" which comes ahead of everything else. I asked him, "do you mean personal liberty for yourself, or for everyone"? He said "personal for me I guess".   February 1, 2022 It's a clear but windy day at Coral Beach in Puerto Escondido. It gets one thinking, "how do I feel about where I am"?  It's easy to fade into irrelevance here and submit to a diminished sense of identity, where "work" has a different meaning entirely, if it exists as a thought object at all.  So I work on ideas for writing and study Spanish, which is no easy thing as there are many distractions of the sort you would imagine. We are reminded of our own youth while surrounded by those not yet aged, a youth which is just a shadow cast upon the sand, that fades away quickly with the procession of the day.  Being a city kid from Philly, I rarely took the time or opportunity to slow down and enjoy those simple things which Nature offers.
