The Real Dilemma Facing President Biden And Merrick Garland.  Based on the most credible reports and leaks coming from those involved in the House January 6th Committee, they will not be recommending that the Department Of Justice launch a criminal investigation of Donald Trump and his alleged co-conspirators for attempting to overturn the election. They will present the findings of the committee to the public in a six day process that will both horrify and thrill those of us comprising Trump's opposition, and will mean absolutely nothing to members of the  Trump cult, who will continue to harden their arguments in defense of the Insurrection itself.  What then is the ostensible reason for the committee to not make such a recommendation? One is to follow it's footprints, the broken branches, it's scent of urine and poop, and stay on it's trail, hoping you can catch up to it when it stops to rest, and then capture it. A poster commented on my comment on Professor HCR's Letter, posted below, and I replied because I thought his response merited it.  The Gun Lobby is an enemy force, a threat to the General Welfare, a destroyer of innocent life, and a mob style criminal conspiracy.  But I'm not satisfied to simply outline a chronology of events which led us here. When tragedies happen, some self-reflection becomes appropriate. The "Gun" Issue Before Americans Which We Are Still Avoiding, Even Today-- My Comment on Professor HCR's Letter This Morning I cancelled my NRA membership when they endorsed Trump. I no longer own a handgun either. I never liked their politics and only had a membership so I could avail myself of their gun safety course and trainers.  In some states a course certificate is required for a concealed carry permit which carries with it reciprocity in most states, but coming SCOTUS decisions will make concealed carry legal everywhere, and it will be the Wild West. Americans have ramped up their gun purchases in the two years since the Pandemic to over 20 million per year. There are currently 140 guns per 100 Americans, which means that many are stockpiling. The mainstream media narrative on the PA Governor's race and Trump endorsed insurrectionist Douglas Mastriano has missed the boat.  They are narrowly focused on Mastriano's threat to overturn the popular vote and install Trump electors in 2024. What they are missing is what his campaign represents.  It will be a template or "flagship" campaign for mass recruitment of a White Nationalist heavily armed paramilitary force which will be his "campaign volunteers", modeled on Hitler's S.A.  which they intend to replicate elsewhere.  While pundits are fixated on votes being invalidated illegally after the election, the actual danger is that the election process itself will more resemble the worst of the Jim Crow states sordid and bloody history of obstructing minority voters through lynching or fire bombings.
