How To Get Through To A Trump Supporter-- First, Know What You Are Fighting

There are several categories of Trump supporters.

The naive followers of Religious fundamentalist leaders
The legitimately stupid and ignorant.
The ambitious political and social climbers who go wherever the money is.
The enraged self-victimized racists and bigots
The pious "Holier than Thou" Religious hypocrites
The greedy Social Darwinists who believe in "Survival of the Fittest"
The people who know better but are too cowardly to buck their peers, Pastors and families.
The anti-government fanatics who are Libertarian Anarchists posing as "Conservatives"
The People who are so thoughtless, they believe that Freedom derives from Guns and Money
The Trump followers who share his narcissism and selfishness, and identify with it.
The pathologically violent, looking for a pretext to explode, in the name of "Patriotism"

And then there are the truly mentally ill, the sick paranoid psychotic conspirophiles who follow QAnon and other Cults, who, believe in Jewish Space Lasers, fake snow in Texas, Democratic cannibalism, and Dead Venezuelan Dictators and Chinese stealing the Election from them etc.

Pretty much all of these types are on full display at CPAC, in different stages and combinations of the above. What you have when you convene an auditorium full of these types to hear Trump is called a "Nuremberg Rally". Don't dignify it by calling it a conference.

And you know they are all going to do what they are going to do. You aren't going to stop that. I do have a problem with those who argue politely, or not at all with those in their own circles who are swept up in this.  I'm not judging, but I really believe the time has passed for continuing to be nice. Gentle persuasion, rational arguments won't work. I would suggest that the pathway to defeating Trumpism is to attack it directly, and liberate the people you care about from it. Confront them, and break his hold over them. I organized politically for 35 years, and have changed a lot of hearts and minds, so take it for what it's worth, and don't get frustrated. Use your anger productively.

And instead of trying to pull them along, like in the above picture, whack them over the head. Figuratively speaking. You have nothing to lose, since if you don't, then you have already lost them.
