Don't Treat Trump Like Al Capone-- Just "Getting Him On Something, Or Anything," Is Not Good Enough!

So, they are now talking about possibly indicting Trump for "Dereliction Of Duty."  Let's take a step back for a moment, and review a few things.

He initiated a far flung conspiracy to void state election results, including demanding that one Secretary of State manufacture 11,000 plus votes from somewhere;

He pushed for drafting slates of phoney electors to replace those duly elected in states he lost.

He incited a riot and violent attack on Congress that caused 5 deaths and 100's of injuries.

He scripted the violence for weeks before, with his Tweeted announcement that J6 would "be wild" and a clear pattern of WH coordination with a "war room" to deploy the violent militias to lead the break-in of the Capitol.

He coordinated with allies in Congress, several of whom were involved in the coup and likely gave the attackers confidential information on access and relevant locations of Congressmen targeted.

He tried to incite the assassination of his own Vice-President and Speaker of the House, both of whom were in the Presidential chain of succession.

He attempted to preside over the coup attempt in person, demanding to be taken to Congress, to the extent that he attempted to seize the steering wheel of the Limo driven by his protection detail.

He demanded that his supporters not be screened for weapons, claiming "they aren't there to hurt me," raising the question, "who were they there to hurt?"

He obstructed personally all attempts to deploy the National Guard, and rebuffed all efforts by his subordinates and allies who tried to get him to call for ending the violence.

He praised the attackers as patriots and now political prisoners, and continues the lie of the stolen election which was the motive for the attack.

All of these actions by him are established and known, and in the process of being documented with hard evidence.

And there are now discussions of indicting him for "dereliction of duty," for failing to bring to a halt the very events that he had conspired to initiate, planned to go into effect, personally was involved in with hands on direction, the investigation of which he has obstructed through destruction of documents, witness intimidation, refusal to abide by investigators requests, and the increasing threat of more violence should he be held accountable.

In effect, they want to charge him with the equivalent of falling asleep on guard duty. If this is what Merrick Garland comes up with, it is a disgrace, which will indeed lead to another worse and more violent coup, on larger scale.

Anything less than seditious conspiracy is unacceptable to history. It is bigger than us who live in the here and now. Generations which have come before and after are speaking to us, to see whether we are worthy of a democracy, worthy of even having a nation.

Merrick Garland, do the right thing.
