Former NSA Contractor Blows The Whistle On Extremist Support For Insurrection In US Spy Agencies---Possible Russian Fifth Column?
This article in The Daily Beast lays bare a dirty secret of the US Intelligence Community (IC).
There has been a yearslong infiltration of extremists into our spy agencies who have migrated from special operations. I believe this is only possible if the vetting process has been skirted, corrupted, or rigged by higher-ups to bring more of their own into the fold. Responsible authorities (Jamie Raskin?) need to take up this whistle-blower report and get on it.
Despite the efforts of Defense Secretary Austin to clean out the enlisted ranks and officers of the neo-nazi and other extremist networks, clearly this has not been addressed thoroughly in the IC and they are still there being protected. Interviews with current anonymous NSA contractors show that "the Insurrection" is alive and well within the 18 different spy agencies at the front lines of our national security.
Every one of these individuals engaged in violent pro-Trump hate speech on the internal chat platforms of the IC should be regarded as a potential security threat, and subject to a counterintelligence probe.
There is a body of evidence developed over years indicating these far right Trump networks within our military/Intelligence establishment are deeply infatuated with Vladimir Putin and imbibe in his authoritarian ideas.
This goes to the question of how it is possible Russian hackers have repeatedly gone through the "back doors" of our most encrypted firewalls and accessed different government agencies as they have. There are also the documented incidents of white supremacists in our active-duty ranks who passed classified intelligence to the Taliban regarding US operations in Afghanistan, putting American soldiers lives in unexpected peril. It is also known, too, that Trump and his appointees personally attempted to spike any and all investigations of such security breaches which might lead to his "mentor" Vladimir Putin.
Two decades ago I worked with an outfit that had a sizeable network of so-called "retired" intelligence professionals. Former associates of ours worked these sources and consequently spread Russian disinformation and the talking points of Putin, defending his military actions in Georgia and the later 2014 annexation of Crimea. Then they would appear for interviews on the now sanctioned "Russia Today" (RT) to disseminate the Putin line. I only uncovered the full extent of this after I had resigned. So I have personal knowledge of this tendency in our IC.
Not every Trump supporting IC member is an insurrectionist or Russian-influenced. However security procedures limit speech for a reason. If Russian hackers can break our encryption and read these communications, or if there are Russia-friendly agents involved in these internal chats, Putin's agents then know who are the strongest opponents of our government's policies who can be played or leveraged, and who might be an asset in the future
It is urgent in these circumstances to investigate the charges by the former NSA contractor who is the source for this article, not just "adding it to the list" of racists and where they work, as if it were purely a domestic matter. I can almost guarantee that if there are active employees or contractors in our spy agencies defending the January 6th attempted coup by Trump, that they are up to their necks in Russian influence. If I were an investigator, that's what I would be looking at, especially now.
