Some "Inconvenient" History Which White Nationalist "Christians" Would Prefer We Not Be Aware Of--
In the 20th and 21st Century, 59 Black Churches were bombed or burned down. That is what is verifiable through records, but the true figure is likely much higher. That does not include all school bombings, arsons of Black businesses. (such as Tulsa and elsewhere, and of course the thousands of lynchings and other racially motivated murders)

Yes, arson and destruction of property by White racist mobs goes a Century or more further back, and outstrips by far that of the protesters against the murder of George Floyd, an inconvenient fact left out of Fox News last propaganda piece on January 6th.
And consider this astounding fact. Between 1995 and 1996, 30 of these 59 firebombings and attacks took place in one year!!
This was concurrent with the first Bush 41 Gulf War, when people recruited to racism in the military like Tim McVeigh were in first phases of arriving home from the Middle East, carrying with them a boatload of anti-Muslim race hatred against brown skinned people.
McVeigh, a member of a Nazi Christian Cult called "Christian Identity" bombed the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City on April 19 of 1995. It occurred on the anniversary of the Government siege of the Waco Compound of the Branch Davidian cult two years before.

How many people are aware that the Oklahoma City bombing occurred in the context of a White Nationalist terror wave directed against Black Churches, and that this was conducted in the aftermath of Waco, as a beginning phase of their escalating war against the government? How many are aware that this atrocious criminality has been endemic so recently in our history? Not many White people, I would say.
The White supremacists hate the government because they hate the idea of equality and justice for all, as they equally hate the US Constitution which asserts those Rights. The firebombing attacks on Black Churches were in fact the armed White supremacists "proving ground" for their projected war against the Federal government, which they were even then training and organizing themselves for.
The people who did these things, either for religious or political reasons are united by their race hatred. It was considered to be such an epidemic that the US House of Representatives was forced to actually pass legislation to make it a Federal Crime to burn down or blow up a Church for reasons of race!
The Cults and White Power groups that did that are today not only the hardcore of the MAGA movement, but are encouraging their members to run for office, and they will succeed in many cases. These are the so-called Patriot Groups which are defended and promoted by Tucker Carlson. (Who would likely, if asked, say that "false flag Antifa" was behind those firebombings to give Bill Clinton and Janet Reno a pretext to confiscate firearms, even though Antifa didn't yet exist.)
This movement of Church bombing racist Confederates and Nazis has been mainstreamed by Trump and Fox News. These were the people trying to murder Capitol Police and Congressmen on January 6th, and overthrow by force an elected President.
Look at who was on the Podium with Trump in Arizona last week, and what constitutes his inner circle. Look at the pro-fascist dregs known as the "Freedom Caucus". This is where they come from. They are unreconstructed racist proto-Nazis and Klansmen, who wear red hats, Camo and tactical gear instead of white hoods and robes. They are Church burning, Cross burning traitors in their identity, if not in practice.
They come out of the white Nationalist religious cults and political groups which began their war with the US government many decades ago, who decided that the Civil Rights movement had to be destroyed, and the Constitutional protections for Civil Rights needed to be nullified. That is with the exception of two. Freedom of Religion, and Right to Bear Arms. For these cultists, acquiring, carrying, and using weapons IS their Religion, because they are war with all and everything outside of their cult.
And truth be told, this movement of violent pseudo-Christian racist murderers is what Merrick Garland was hired by the Justice Department to prosecute 30 or more years ago. He was in the middle of all of this, from Waco to Oklahoma City, to the Church bombings, to the attempted passage of the National "Church Arson Prevention Act" on "Juneteenth", 1996. (Defeated in the Senate by Republicans who "wanted to improve it")
Merrick Garland's career, personal identity, and public life have been dedicated to fighting the national sickness which exploded in our Capitol on January 6th. He was the lead prosecutor of Timothy McVeigh and his co-conspirators. He was investigating the cults and armed militias that aided and abetted McVeigh. He knows exactly who and what they are.
And now we identify as the current leader of this White Supremacist pseudo Christian terrorist cult to be Donald Trump. If Garland does not indict Trump for Sedition Conspiracy, (not the flimsy "dereliction of duty" charge being cooked up by the Select Committe on January 6th) it is the worst failure by a political leader in modern times, and an abrogation of the entirety of his life's work. He has absolutely no excuse. Not politics, not optics, not past precedent, not legal interpretation. Not because of timing and trying to build "the perfect airtight case" which doesn't pan out. No excuse, period.
So, that is the "inconvenient" background of the decisions being made by our government in our name, right now as we read and speak. What they decide to do with Trump personally as the leader of this violent proto-terrorist racist cult is the litmus test for whether we are worthy of living in a Democratic Republic.
I once had a Facebook friend who argued that I shouldn't bother going so far back in history as the 1990's because the whole world has changed so much, and that it was irrelevant. Really? Has it?
