I never met him. This is something that I know from my political work, and is not the standard material for an obituary.  Powell was forced to resign by Cheney in 2004, right after Bush 43's re-election. He knew that by making the US Iraq War Resolution speech at the UN which included Cheney's fake Intel on WMD, he had effectively destroyed any prospect of seeking higher office, and that his career in government was dead and buried. Yet he did not retire, in the literal sense. Powell's years long Chief-of-Staff, including throughout his stint as Secretary of State was Col. Lawrence Wilkerson. Wilkerson was forced out as well, but continued his working relationship with Powell....

  Hey all, here is something to think about.  The White House appointments to run or advise US Coronavirus policy started with a Labradoodle breeder in March, then the US Trade Representative, followed by the Son-In-Law Real Estate swindler, a Lawyer with a Right Wing Think Tank, then a Campaign manager, and even a Pillow salesman, all while Dr. Fauci then Dr. Birx were being disregarded, ridiculed, gagged, phased out, and now  threatened with death to the point of requiring Federal protection from Trump supporters. There are some people who bring up history and politics who need to go back to school. They speak about matters which they have virtually no understanding of. Those folks should hold their opinions in abeyance until they know what they are talking about.  For example, from the time of the Civil War, until the election of FDR, the Democratic Party was the pro-slavery Party in America. They were those who ran the corrupt political machine of New York, Tammany Hall. Who sabotaged Lincoln's Reconstruction. Who empowered robber barons and handed our National credit to British Bankers. Woodrow Wilson was an unreconstructed Confederate who relaunched the KKK from the White House when he endorsed the Klan propaganda film, "Birth of a Nation". FDR, who was a Hamiltonian in the tradition of Lincoln tried to turn the Democratic Party into the Party of the Union, and the American System, as opposed to the Party of Secession.   The following is my commentary in response to Heather Cox Richardson's coverage and news reports regarding a Texas School Board's recent attempt to impose State laws demanding "opposing views" on Holocaust Studies, other fascist types of censorship and literal whitewashing of American history.
