How We Got Here-- The Degeneration of the GOP and the Engineering of the "Trump Virus".-- written one year ago, October 17, 2020
There are some people who bring up history and politics who need to go back to school. They speak about matters which they have virtually no understanding of. Those folks should hold their opinions in abeyance until they know what they are talking about.
For example, from the time of the Civil War, until the election of FDR, the Democratic Party was the pro-slavery Party in America. They were those who ran the corrupt political machine of New York, Tammany Hall. Who sabotaged Lincoln's Reconstruction. Who empowered robber barons and handed our National credit to British Bankers. Woodrow Wilson was an unreconstructed Confederate who relaunched the KKK from the White House when he endorsed the Klan propaganda film, "Birth of a Nation".
FDR, who was a Hamiltonian in the tradition of Lincoln tried to turn the Democratic Party into the Party of the Union, and the American System, as opposed to the Party of Secession. He actively aligned with Labor and Social movements advocating for working people, Minorities, farmers and Women, in conjunction with FLOTUS Eleanor. This he did do, in dramatic fashion, notwithstanding his awful pragmatic decisions on Japanese-American internment and Jewish refugees. He did this despite the majority of his own Party still being rooted in the South, Jim Crow, and segregation. However, the momentum FDR generated, with Eleanor, led to the effective switching of roles, where the Democratic Party under Truman and later JFK staked themselves on Civil Rights and the protections for Labor, and the GOP became the Party of the Confederacy. This progress on the Democratic side provoked a backlash from the JP Morgan financed Right Wing GOP, which was soon taken over by the extremists of McCarthyism, with Roy Cohn, J. Edgar Hoover, and the John Birch Society conducting a purge of many of the old line traditionalist Republicans, until they were stymied by Eisenhower.
This destruction of the Party of Lincoln was consolidated when Richard Nixon launched what was known as "The Southern Strategy". His policy was to capitalize on racist reaction to Civil Rights legislation and Supreme Court rulings to recruit the old "Dixiecrats" of the Southern pro Confederate States to join the GOP. And that is what happened. This began the total degeneration of the GOP, under the influence of racists, anti-labor Billionaires, Right-Wing "Friedmanite" economists and free market ideologues.
Republicans today idealize Reagan, (which is easy to do in comparison to Trump) because he represented a "good old days" Americanism after a decade and a half of scandal and decline of US economic power and influence following Vietnam and Watergate. Yet, that was only window dressing. Reagan started the teardown of the FDR policy which created the system of regulation and the social safety net which protected Americans from rapacious Corporations. He made the world safe for Junk Bond Kingpins.
The degeneration of the GOP accelerated in the 80's and 90's, when it was thoroughly taken over by the pro-Confederate Evangelical financial Cartels masquerading as Religious Christian institutions. These Evangelicals, led by modern day "Elmer Gantrys", used the "hot button" single issues of Abortion, the 2nd Amendment and hatred for Islam to relaunch the KKK again, this time in the growing movement for a "Contract for America" under Newt Gingrich, the so-called "Conservative Revolution". This growing fascist tendency built itself through the Megachurches with a new flagship campaign, the fabricated investigations and Impeachment of Bill Clinton over sex. These were the hooks for building a Trillion dollar money making political machine, in the guise of Christianity, and under the manipulative slogan of stopping "Big Government".
The GOP in the 2000's used the Bush/Cheney contrived Wars after 9-11 to fuel Christian fundamentalist "Final Days" Amageddonism to build their mass base, and fund the growth of the fascist/populist/Neo-Confederate Tea Party, based on the David Duke/KKK racist insurgency of reactivated Klan sympathizers into the GOP. The Tea Party program meshed with the Free Market Think Tanks of the Right Wing in their desire to tear down the regulatory functions of the Federal Government, and soon began to receive big funding from dark money sources, such as the Billionaire Koch Brothers, and Las Vegas mobsters like Shelly Adelson.
The GOP has since the election of Barack Obama adopted racism and greed as their hook to pull people in, and build their "base", around the most base an identity as possible. They have welcomed the influx of conspirophiles, Nazis and Militias, Russian Oligarchs, anti-science Evangelical phoney Christian financial kingpins and faith healers, Confederates and greedy Wall Street type speculators. Their actual constituency is the wealthiest 1%, and they have decided on a strategy of unleashing chaos in the US. They needed to wait until enough traditionalist Republicans died or retired to go for their actual scenario of using the chaos they have unleashed to bring about Dictatorship as their solution.
This is the context in which they chose Trump as their agent of chaos, and William Barr as their instrument of Dictatorship. Both are tools in a greater design to wreck the American System, assassinate Hamilton's, Lincoln's FDR's and JFK's legacy, and implement a Mussolini Fascist style Corporativist system which kills and reverses what is left of the progress made in the 20th Century. It is a return to the Confederacy, to the Articles of Confederation, to the system of the British Empire we originally freed ourselves from.
That is what the GOP is today. They are the Party of King George the Third, The Confederacy, the Wall Street of JPMorgan and Herbert Hoover, and the revived Ku Klux Klan. They are what the Democratic Party of the 19th and earlier 20th Century used to be. The Party of Slavery. When I said a few days ago, their program is racism and greed, and that's all you need to know, I meant it. It really is that simple.
I can back up everything I've said here. Anyone is free to challenge or question anything written, or ask for source material. This election is not just about Trump. It's about the degeneration of the Nation politically, and the fact that the Democratic Party has been so distracted with their own diversionary single issues, that they have so far failed as an opposition party. We hope that changes in the next 2 months, or we won't have much to talk about.
