This is my response to the coverage of Merrick Garland's being questioned by GOP Senators yesterday who attacked the DOJ for "siccing" the Federal government on concerned parents groups protesting against School Boards. This was a comment on another person's post, so it is not fully edited.  "One major reason for FBI involvement is the presence of QAnon among these pro-Trump racist parents groups. QAnon built their networks around the slogan "Save The Children", but we all know what they really mean by it.   This case should be declared a mistrial immediately and the Judge forced to recuse himself, at the very least. His ruling is prejudicial and amounts to Jury tampering. Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz has retailed his own version of "The Big Lie". He has issued a declaration categorizing the leading human rights organizations which represent the Palestinian people as "Terrorist Groups", while producing no evidence. He has accused them of being fronts and financial conduits for the obscure and small PFLP, (Popular Front for Liberation of Palestine)  while refusing to document the allegation. This was my comment (with a few edits and additions)  on a friend's excellent post about SPAC's, now that they are in the news due to Trump's shenanigans with his new Media company. Several people have asked me what is going on with Merrick Garland. What is he thinking, why does he seem to be protecting Trump? According to recent coverage, he has made policy announcements on nine separate outstanding cases to mitigate Trump's legal exposure. And it is now unbelievably an open question as to whether he will prosecute Steve Bannon for contempt of Congress. Well, how in the world did this happen? Some would argue that he's a Centrist, therefore soft on Trump. Others point to his track record as a Judge, for example rulings in favor of the Gun industry to argue that he is conflicted. Others say he is simply sticking with DOJ traditions of keeping the Department apolitical and independent, supposedly in place since Watergate. And in making these arguments, those folks would likely conclude by saying, "it really IS that simple".  I think it is something else. Why, you ask?   As we fret and agonize about the ongoing crises of the day, it's easy to lose sight of the deeper truths which have guided us in the past, which are bequeathed to us through philosophy.  As my friends are aware, I have made a specific line of attack on the institutions of contemporary organized religion, especially American Fundamentalism and other varieties which feed the hatred and rage of Right Wing reaction. Reports of Russian Ops Causing Chaos In African Nations-- October 21, 2021 In my reporting on Russian irregular warfare, I have highlighted several aspects of how it is staged. However, I believe he authorized an intentional leak of this report in order to send a shot across the bow of Biden, Schumer, and Bernie Sanders, each of whom are in various ways putting immense pressure on Manchin. This is his "nuclear option", and it has been all along, which is why the White House has handled him with kid gloves, and Biden appointed his wife to a Federal Agency to buy him off a little bit. Manchin is livid at the exposes of his corporate donations, shareholder stake and dividends from the family coal company, and his yachting lifestyle. Manchin got up and stormed out of a Schumer speech last week as a stunt, because Schumer was justly attacking GOP obstructionism. When asked to comment on dramatic and otherwise important news events, I've made the same point consistently about how I see these things and make sense of them. I look at "Analysis Situs" which is to locate the event within its strategic context. I look at "Cui Bono" which is to ask the question of who benefits from a specific action. And I look at the timing of events, by asking the question of "why now"? And I've asserted that in evaluating a news story, frequently the context and timing of events is as important or more so than the event itself, that it is superficial and redundant to view such developments in isolation as discreet events in time as if they are simply phenomena.
