The Ahistoric And Negligent Perfidy Of Merrick Garland: His Firing Is Needed Now, But That Alone Is Not Adequate--

After a brief survey of my usual sources and a very coherent synopsis by my friend Thomas Clay Jr. in his morning post, it is clear that the espionage conducted by Donald Trump actually did rise to the level of treason against the United States, and that all existing legal cases and investigations of him up until now would be rightly superceded by new charges against him for exactly that.

Objectively, the damage which has been reported as the direct aftermath of his trading of nuclear secrets with Australian billionaire Anthony Pratt appears to have surpassed that of Jonathan Pollard, Aldridge Ames, and Robert Hanssen combined. The sharing of our nuclear submarine capabilities with someone who then relayed them over an unsecured line, (and subsequently shared that information with 45 additional people) has undeniably found it's way into Russian hands, and literally blew up the agreed to Australian-French submarine sale as a result, with Australia pivoting toward buying from the US instead. This led to France recalling their US Ambassador in an unprecedented rupture of relations with our oldest ally.

Also, not to be understated is the revelation that Trump had in his possession a "NOC" list, which was "laying around loose." NOC means "Non Official Cover." It is the list of names of both undercover US spies, and the assets and confidential sources who serve covertly under them. They are operating or running networks behind the lines of hostile or adversarial nations in most cases, and the divulging of their identities means almost certain death or endangerment for them and their families as well.  When their "outing" involves a friendly nation it causes extreme harm to our strategic relationships, because it exposes undercover spies who work with these agents from other nations.

There are only three reasons Trump has these documents. To trade them, or sell them, or use them as blackmail. Based on what is already publicly known, there is reason to believe he was engaged in all three.

Now it is legitimate to ask not only if Americans were killed because of his possession of a NOC list, but how many were killed after Merrick Garland was made aware they were in Trump's possession. For almost a year, Garland's DOJ "negotiated" with Trump's lawyers who lied, obstructed the investigations, aided and abetted the denial of said documents existence and possession, along with hiding and/or possible destruction of evidence on Trump's behalf. It is entirely possible that US national security, strategic relations, nuclear top secrets, and American lives were irreparably harmed or lost, because of Merrick Garland's bureaucratic plodding, moral cowardice, and refusal to enforce the law equally against arguably the most destructive traitor in US history in order to avoid the appearance of being "political." His incompetent decisions to follow DOJ "precedent" in the face of an unprecedented criminal conspiracy may have cost American lives.

Garland's year or more long delay in taking action to both attempt recovery of these documents in the name of being above politics, and his refusal to immediately convene a Grand Jury to bring charges, has contributed to putting the political existence of the US in actual jeopardy, because Trump has been enabled to run for the Presidency again after committing treason, which had it been brought out earlier would have legally precluded his candidacy.

The damage done by Trump personally is astronomical. The fact that Merrick Garland still has his job is tragic. It tells you that the White House itself is delusional in its belief that bipartisanship is still possible, paralyzed and incompetent in its conduct of political strategy, preoccupied with "making government work," while allowing avowed enemies of the nation to destroy the functions of government from within.

Right now, the Biden White House is conducting itself as technocrats, when what is needed is wartime leadership against a domestic enemy led by a madman that has already launched a Civil War, and allied itself with hostile foreign powers.

Merrick Garland's stubborn and doctrinal incompetence is what will make Donald Trump President and then dictator, if he is not fired for cause right now.

Every life lost, every harmful act undermining our national security, every bit of harm done to our democratic political system, occurred on Garland's watch, while he had direct knowledge before the fact of what was in Trump's possession, and had the legal means to put an end to his treason for good, but he refused to do it, instead delaying for a year until finally covering his ass by appointing a Special Prosecutor.

If the United States democracy dies by the end of next year, history will perform an inquest. The cause of death will be listed as "died of Justice Department tradition." And President Biden will go down in history as America's Heinrich Bruening, the German Chancellor who while opposing Adolf Hitler, stubbornly refused to change the course of his government, and whose failure as Chancellor led directly to the Nazis dictatorship seizing power.

That is where we are. The fact that the media has made a collective decision to bury this reality in their news midsection underneath the Congressional mayhem should not mislead anyone to think this is just "one more thing." It is either a new beginning, or the beginning of the end. Today.
