 Philly Inquirer Article Begins The Conversation. Is The US Splitting Apart? 


This report is not likely to be a startling revelation for most thinking people, in fact, it's surely not the first or last on the subject.  However it confirms what many people are seeing and experiencing on a personal level day by day in the course of making weighty decisions about their futures and personal lives. The simple reality is, that the migration underway based on those seeking refuge from ideologically opposed governments and laws would be far greater were it not for the issues of career and income disparity which are the leading constraints upon just picking up and moving. 


The most divisive and malignant personality ever to sit in the Oval Office, along with the Supreme Court that he stacked, in conjunction with a 40 year long campaign to attack voting rights with gerrymandering, has succeeded in not only splitting the US ideologically, but now, geographically. It is the "Reds vs. the Blues" folks, and the process of mass migration is already happening. 


Does this mean we are headed for civil war? No, not necessarily, but it could lead to a modern form of State secession, in which the dividing lines would be formalized. 


I fully expect that the Republican Party will continue their explicit calls for a Constitutional Convention, in which the Red States seek to transform (trending toward breaking) their relationship to the US Federal government. And I expect they will use their Statehouse majorities, and control of SCOTUS to move aggressively toward that end. They will not officially call for secession, rather will pick single-issue "hot button" policies such as a balanced budget, or national abortion ban to push individual amendments. And of course, winning on those issues are not the end for which they will do this, anymore than the extension of slavery was the only issue which motivated the South to secede. They are using single issues as a battering ram with which to destroy the Union. 


The thoughtless and borderline psychotic "Mar-a-Lago" Taylor Greene merely gives voice to the anti-American ignorant rabble which is seeking a "national divorce." And of course, their claim of the grounds for this divorce is "irreconcilable differences," which is a fraud, since we all know the Red States have been openly carrying on an illicit affair with Russia.

The article here is mostly human interest, but the subtext should feel ominous as we sense that a point of reckoning is approaching. Lincoln was right. "A house divided can not long stand."

Milton Friedman- The Man Who Revived Fascist Economics, and Called It "Freedom".

  You may have heard the name before, as he was featured in a PBS Series, titled "Free To Choose", also the title of his most famous and misnamed book. He was a prolific author, and widely publicized by Conservative News Media and Magazines, especially by the followers of William F. Buckley. In fact, Milton Friedman is the current top economic advisor to the so-called "movement conservatives", from Nixon to Reagan, to Newt Gingrich and Trumpworld,  and is still to this day the main architect of the GOP approach to dealing with the present economic crisis, though he has been keeping a low profile. A very low profile. In fact, six feet under. How Do You Know If What You Are Reading Is True Or Useful? - A One Year Old Facebook Post

 How do we know whether what we are reading is true, or for that matter useful? There are many journalists in the US today who are not only excellent writers, but are just good people. They are well informed, have the best intentions and are highly professional.  I have to force myself to write, and it comes with great difficulty because I am blocked, and had little journalistic training. Without an editor I feel lost, and feel as though I want to rewrite everything or throw it out after I read it. Reading books and articles is my favorite hobby, and when I'm doing that I am in my happy place.  As of now I have 30 News and Magazine sites bookmarked and I read them everyday as a routine. I usually read anywhere from 2-10 articles in each, depending upon what newsworthy events are breaking that day. Plus I have a number of books on history that I have going at any one time.
