"Just Security" Article Analyzing January 6th Final Report Sounds Alarm On Growing Threat Of Paramilitary Violence--
This article in "Just Security," which warns of a serious threat of extreme right paramilitary violence, is based in reality, and centers on two very critical facts. One, that the political right-wing conservatives have formed an open alliance with the neo-fascist conspirophile white supremacist paramilitaries, effectively welcoming them into collaboration on their anti-democratic culture wars. Two, that the dangerous character of this alliance has taken root, such that it is now able to grow and survive with or without Trump, and that their threat has not diminished with Trump's recent defeats but increased.
The report by security expert Mary B. McCord is a partial review of the House Select Committee final report on January 6th.
I would add to the picture she presents by emphasizing the national security aspect of this dangerous combination of forces, since there is a significant body of verified Intel which shows the interface between the Trump team advisors who ran January 6th and used the militias in their planning to overturn the vote, and the Russian intelligence services.
Ms. McCord gets a pass for not discussing the Russian role because nowhere in the report is that substantially addressed. Nevertheless, her report is an important read because it puts a spotlight on the still operational movement for insurrection, which is arming and training as we speak.
One point worth noting, the terrorist hijackers of the Freedom Caucus now control the GOP majority in the House with a tiny block of twenty members, each of whom is multiply connected to the paramilitaries, the planning of the Capitol riot, and are acting as Russian assets on a number of political and propaganda fronts. In effect, the leaders of the neo-fascist militias are now at the disposal of the MAGA Republicans to be used target their adversaries, and create more incidents like the QAnon attempted murder of the Pelosis, Nancy and Paul. Trump and the Freedom Caucus have their very own SA (Brownshirts) to direct against their opposition.
Additionally, the MAGA neo-fascists in the House control the cowardly capitulater Speaker McCarthy, the House rules, the House Committees, and the GOP agenda, all acquired during their hostage taking operations around the Speaker vote.
The implications should be clear. Trump, Stone, Bannon and Miller created a monster in order to disrupt the election. That monster just seized a branch of the US government. And there are no superheroes coming down from the sky to save us anytime soon. That means we, you and I, need to start thinking about doing something different ourselves in the fight for democratic values.
