Rosen Report Article From May 2022 Hit Nail On The Head. Mar-a-Lago Docs Were In Large Part Blackmail Files.

October 10, 2022

Today's "Daily Beast" article (linked at bottom) drops a bombshell. Trump tried to "bargain" with NARA over the stolen Mar-a-Lago documents, demanding in exchange FBI documents exonerating him from the charges re; Russia, to prove the entire investigation was a hoax. Trump's attorneys told him it was a non-starter, but apparently he insisted on making the proposal anyway.

To this writer however, that is not the big story. The real kicker is embedded in the following quote:

[Instead of returning the classified materials he’d taken to Mar-a-Lago from the White House, Donald Trump allegedly wanted to trade them for documents showing the FBI investigated his 2016 campaign ties to Russia, according to reporting from The New York Times. For more than a year, National Archives officials hounded the former president’s aides and attorneys to return the boxes. Trump insisted they contained nothing important, SOME JUST HAD 'DIRTY LAUNDRY'.]   (caps added for emphasis, lfr)

This report confirms my assessment and published material from earlier this year (my blog piece linked here also) in which I focused on Trump's history of blackmail, the art of which he was mentored in by his mob attorney, Roy Cohn, and a product of his real and imagined knowledge about the New York Mafia families way of conducting business. I documented in "The Rosen Report" article below how this trove of documents was the equivalent of J. Edgar Hoover's infamous files, which he used back in the day to control and terrorize most of official Washington, journalists, and celebrities. This, I wrote, was the key factor in how Trump seized top down control of the GOP, neutralizing those who had at times opposed or spoken out against him.

Yes, it is likely he was conspiring to trade secrets for cash, which has always been part of his MO. However, because he fantasizes himself as "The Godfather's" Michael Corleone or some other mythical Mafia kingpin, blackmail leverage over others has always had equal standing with cash. This is how he got away with decades of theft, fraud, cheating, deceptive business practices, discrimination, and earned the nickname "Teflon Don."

This is why, for example he cultivated relationships over decades with Tabloid publishers like David Pecker, Murdoch's New York Post, and high society magazines specializing in celebrity gossip. His capacity to use certain media for destroying people who opposed him, or leveraging others to promote him, is his bailiwick, and always has been. This was specifically modeled on Hoover's use of Hollywood gossip columnists like Hedda Hopper, and Walter Winchell, who at Hoover's whim would bring out the rumors about someone being gay, or a "Red." Trump's mentor Cohn, remember, was Hoover's closest accomplice.

My view from the beginning has been that as important as are the classified materials which he stole and hid away, more important politically were the mostly unclassified files which likely comprised the majority of his stash. That's why I wrote what I did in May.

The majority of political control he has within his party is in those boxes, which hold the secrets from the closets of the GOP leadership. Some claim his power is in his control of the fundraising lists. However, the means by which he seized that control is in his "Hoover Files." And the key to breaking that control of the GOP resides there as well.

Methodologically I think it useful in this light to restate what I believe are the limitations of "fact-checking" as a metric for assessing truth or political reality. Hypotheses, even those which are for the moment lacking in verifiable factual or forensic evidence, are the pathway toward the truth, provided they are grounded in history, science, reason, or all of the above. To get there, you can't be gun-shy about presenting it out of some fear you'll be labeled a "conspiracy theorist." There are actual conspiracies, many of which can and should be exposed before they are hatched to the degree possible, provided one's motivations are not rooted in pure self-interest or unhealthy obsession. Real world training, experience, insight, and collaboration with others similarly knowledgeable is vital for making sound judgments, far more than theories arrived at by "guys in tin-foil hats watching YouTube" in their mom's basements.

If your hypothesis is based in previously established fact, the salient new facts will eventually present themselves in time. For that reason, going out on a limb to present something which few others are saying always involves some risk. My attitude has been to take these kinds of risks, within reason, because we have little to lose. Being credible is a good thing. Being a credible but "late to the game" victim of injustice, slavery or dictatorship doesn't amount to much, therefore I'll always write the things I feel need to be said in a timely fashion, without being overly concerned with "sounding credible."

As Major League pitchers often say, to succeed in Baseball, "trust your stuff." That's what you'll continue to get from here. Thank you all again for reading, and sharing.
