On The Matter Of Trump's Demand To Be Re-instated
Most Americans, including even the most passionate and informed of Donald Trump's Democratic opposition among both citizens and the media, are thoroughly "out to lunch" with regard to the significance of his statement. It is a case of hysterical blindness as a mass phenomenon, in which something is standing directly in front of them, unobstructed in full view, and yet they see it not, afflicted with a form of synaptic break.
Those who are writing about this, and who are reading this coverage, are approaching a new stage of willful self-delusion, choosing to believe that Trump is flailing, desperate, frightened, raving, trying to hype his supporters to keep the money coming in, trying to distract, divert, and deflect from his collapsing legal position, or some other narrative which all leads to the predominance of a single word, a word which takes the place of thinking. "Nuts." Most of you want to believe that This. Is. Just. Nuts.
Too many foolish people when reading his statement dismiss it as the declarations of a near defeated pathetic character, who when surrounded and backed into a corner, lashes out and speaks of fighting everyone single-handed. Unhinged is the other word you come up with.
And you think this because your minds won't let you think past the election, because of sheer terror at the possibilities implied by what this means. "Oooohhhh, bullshit!!" says the media addicted observers of events who have never personally experienced war, civil conflicts, coups, insurgencies or revolutions, as have the majority of people from the world's lesser developed nations. A life of relative privilege, comfort and stability has weakened American's judgment to the point where something so ominous, so threatening is staring right at you, and you blow it off with a quick and easy "wow, he's really psycho, like that's gonna happen." The continuing neurotic pattern of miscalculation and misestimation of what he is capable of by too many people is our great vulnerability at this moment.
This is a plan, not a tantrum. It has been his plan all along, and as is his wont because of his ego, habitually he tells everyone his plans beforehand, as he told us all he would never accept the election result if he lost. Think for a minute if you will, what were your thoughts in 2020 when he said he might delay the election, or choose to not recognize the result? "Nuts." "Unhinged." "Wow, psycho." The same things you are likely thinking now.
His statement means three things most immediately.
1) Any delay in his indictment, trial and conviction, for example as is the result of this Special Master decision, or political considerations due to "DOJ traditions" is a potential calamity of historic proportions.
2) He is speaking through his typical coded language to his base of heavily armed Domestic Violent Extremists (DVE's) to prep them for a wave of terror and violence between now and the election, (and immediately thereafter) which is designed to create a climate of fear, not unlike that which was directed against African Americans under Jim Crow by the KKK. Except the Klan at its high point had thousands of active terrorist members. MAGA has millions.
3) Trump's army of terrorists will be deployed in a Nazi-style fashion in an attempt to suppress the Democratic vote, combined with winning state elections at all levels to enable them to cancel results at both the State and Federal level. Under such circumstances that the MAGA Republicans succeed in taking both houses of Congress, they will absolutely indeed attempt to re-install Trump to the Presidency. How, you ask? Well, sit around and do nothing to get the vote out, and you will find out.
He is not "railing" against the inevitable closing of the ring around him by prosecutors. He is telling us all his plan. And once again, just as did the German Social Democrats with Hitler, and as most of you did in 2019-2020, too many among Trump's opposition, out of fear, denial, and infantile arrogance, casually brush off his statements as merely the ravings of a nut.
"But it's impossible," that could never happen" says the expert who has decades of experience in observing politics. And the arguments for why this is are manifold, and carefully reasoned of course. But that question, could he actually do it is not even the issue. The issue is the utter uncontrollable chaos he intends to unleash throughout the United States, which could lead to a state of ungovernability which you've only seen previously in Third World Nations or collapsing empires like the Soviet Union. That is what people have staring them in the face, which they choose not to see.
While most who believe they have a grasp of the mechanics of government, legislation, due process, etc have already done their mental calculus, and decided Trump could never be reinstated, he has already calculated how legions of his heavily armed supporters will be descending upon State Capitols to overturn election results, occupy state offices, and begin a wave of violence directed against "woke" targets. White Supremacists, QAnon adherents, "Christian soldiers," and others. Also never lose sight of the fact that 70-80% or more of US law enforcement personnel were Trump voters, as was the leadership of FOP's nationally. The so-called "rule of law" unfortunately starts and ends with them.
What he wants is chaos. In the context of such violence, those things which you argue now with conviction are improbable or impossible, become more likely to happen. You, the majority of his opposition envision his defeat coming at the polling booth and in the courts. And he envisions his survival resulting from literal blood in the streets. Most of you know this but haven't yet faced this discontinuity. I can, because I've lived in this kind of world, that of revolutions and reaction for more than forty years. And I'll tell you frankly that as blithely and cavalierly as you dismiss his call for re-instatement as the ravings of a nut, that is how deadly seriously our Federal law enforcement, intelligence agencies and national defense/security establishment are taking it. And preparing scenarios for just this.
Those Democratic opponents of Trump who have not yet fully engaged in the mobilization for this coming election should officially end their observer status this minute. What you do to mobilize the vote in this election is your last hope to have a democracy, and a quality of life befitting that of human beings.
Conversely, what we can accomplish as a nation with a Democratic majority in both houses, and what President Biden can do with that majority should give us happy thoughts, hope, and reason for optimism enough to motivate us to get off our asses and campaign, if we have not yet begun already. I'll leave you with that positive note.
