Coming Soon On The Rosen Report

I have two research projects underway which I want to concentrate on.  I'm working on a short series on Shakespeare's Othello and Lear, the introduction to which was already posted a week or so ago.

Additionally there are two other pieces I want and need to write. First is a report with my assessment on the coming explosion of targeted anti-semitic violence,  which will dovetail with the rising threat of a MAGA-world armed insurgency against the Federal government and "wokism." The process of nazification of MAGA and the GOP has reached a threshold, and there are a number of inflection points in the near future for such escalated violence. I'll be writing about "who and what" comprises this extremely dangerous organized insurgency. The degree to which this terrorism will emerge from various nazified churches will be both unsettling and pose a great dilemma for us.

By way of introduction, it's useful when in reflecting upon great conflicts to remember there are always going to be two adversaries, and it will be a two front war. One is the enemy in front of us, which intends to conquer, loot, and destroy the underpinnings of a system which protects its citizens, and as well the cultural imperatives which sustain that system. The other is the enemy "behind the lines." This includes those who claim fealty to the cause, have insinuated themselves in leadership, but from an identity standpoint have divided loyalties. These are individuals who have strong identification with the outlook of our primary enemy, through long held associations and activity. They have successfully masked their personal conflict of interest by acting as "the cool heads," who in the name of winning the war, do everything within their power to obstruct, divert, slow down, water down, and sabotage the committment to winning it. It consists of power seekers who are hedging and playing both sides in the event they lose, and therefore laying the groundwork for insuring their own survival and status in the aftermath. They often identify as "centrists or moderates," promoting a so-called balanced approach. They are the modern Talleyrands of French Revolution fame, one day out at the barricades shouting "off with their heads," until they turn up as leaders of the opposition the next day, shouting "back on with their heads."

This "behind the lines" adversary (examples are General George McClellan, pictured on my profile with Lincoln, or the British Field Marshal Montgomery in command of the British 8th Army, then the Allies 21st Army group in WWII) is often the most dangerous and destructive. I have a working idea of who the current ones are, their history, associations and outlook.  I'm going to write about the horrific damage they have done to America, the President's agenda, the Democratic Party and the President personally through their sabotage.

The President has accomplished great things in the face of massive obstruction and a hate-driven campaign of GOP destruction. However those accomplishments are threatened on two fronts. One is the plan of Trump to use strategic violence to render the United States ungovernable, then seeking to use the resulting chaos as his pathway back to power. And the other, once again, are those advisers in the President's inner circle who have misled him, acting to strengthen and legitimize the fascist GOP in the name of fighting Trump and "ultra-MAGA." It is vital in my view to identify this group, as I repeat my call for firings and a course correction while we still have time.

For those who have read Shakespeare and know the plays I'm writing about, it will ring familiar. In many respects, fighting the adversary in front of you, the one who attacked first is the most straightforward aspect of war. Being able to recognize and counteract the enemy in the room with you, in whom you've placed your trust or have known well for years is the greater challenge. Lincoln had his McClellan and Treasury Secretary Samuel Chase, both of whom sabotaged the war effort in numerous ways and were justifiably fired. The "radicals" in Lincoln's own party wanted retribution and mass trials and hangings, putting Lincoln in a bind where the Confederacy would fight to the bitter end, instead of surrendering with "malice toward none, and charity for all." Lincoln's plans for Reconstruction depended upon his ability to neutralize the radicals in his own party, as well as the white supremacist paramilitaries and Confederate stay-behinds who would resist it in totality.

Just as Othello had his "Iago," so does President Biden, who despite his great accomplishments under horrific circumstances is being set up for a political defeat which is potentially devastating, laying the groundwork for a GOP seizure of power from which there will be no return.

I've been hesitant to write this up because of the fraught political environment. I've known that many will object that I'm undercutting the President and giving MAGA talking points. I have been deluged with accusations recently that I'm damaging the cause by warning of perfidious influence around the President, or addressing what I believe to be mistakes in judgment. Frankly, I'm tired of stepping lightly and having to avoid this issue in the name of preserving unity and morale.

We have too much to lose if things go badly in November. Everything I write is coming from me personally, nothing and no one is "running me."  I'll present sources and argue on behalf of what I write. My hope is that you will all stay with me and see what we can do to mitigate against the worst case scenarios. If everything goes well, then nothing we do toward that end is a wasted effort, and hopefully we will all be paid back in full.

So, on that note, have a good week, and see you all soon. And thank you for your patience.
