The Washington Post Just Won't Go There--- The Real Reason The GOP Doesn't Have More Liz Cheneys
The Washington Post Just Won't Go There---
The ostensibly liberal minded Trump opponent, writer Jennifer Rubin, has an article in today's WaPo which covers a worthy subject, which is, "why there aren't more Republicans like Liz Cheney." Unfortunately she punts on the most important aspect. (Link below)
Liz Cheney, as we know, is the daughter of Dick Cheney, and is herself a long-term fixture in the US Defense/Intelligence establishment. She is and has been considered a high value asset for US National Security, notwithstanding the destructive role played by her father during the Bush 43 Presidency.
This is, for example, the reason Cheney became the prime mover in a nationally significant open letter published in the Autumn of 2020 by all living former Secretaries of Defense of both parties, renouncing as unconstitutional any role for the US military in determining the outcome of the 2020 election. This letter, and internal resistance at the time from both General Milley and Secretary Esper effectively neutralized Trump's plans to use the military to conduct a Coup through the seizing of ballots and cancellation of Biden's vote.
The point being, Cheney, because of who she is and what she represents is a heavily protected national asset. Unfortunately not protected enough to shield her from Trump's political purge of the GOP.
What should be clear at this point is that Donald Trump's Coup against the GOP has been made possible by his ability to use various media to encourage his heavily armed and brainwashed followers to target enemies or potential dissidents with violent threats. Most Republicans don't have the stomach to live under 24/7 protection from security threats for themselves or their families, nor can they afford it. Whereas Cheney, because of her father's years long Secret Service protection detail for himself and family is acclimated to it.
Representative Adam Kinzinger has dealt with this by announcing his political retirement at his term's end, because he can't take the heat forever.
To restate it, Trump is a controller of stochastic terrorism, who happens to have studied the history of Hitler's rise to power in Germany and seeks to emulate it. His tactics in establishing his grip on the GOP have been reminiscent of how the Nazi S.A. goon squads terrorized the opposition in Germany, and how Hitler himself used the SS to then purge the S.A. in the "Night of The Long Knives," albeit in a slow motion and less obsequious manner. That is the reason why there aren't more Republicans like Liz Cheney.
Jennifer Rubin hints around it by quoting Cheney a bit on the intimidation factor among the GOP rank and file, but she won't state the truth in the way it needs to be. Why is that?
Because it is the Washington Post that is her vehicle. It is owned by the morally ambiguous Jeff Bezos. Their editorial board has been pathetically awful in stifling content which "goes too far" in attacking Trump because they still adhere to their phoney "balanced and fair" mantra of avoiding extremes. They issue watered down content under the rubric of "objectivity."
Also WaPo currently has an internal war going on between it's writers and their editors over content, and the old guard there is duking it out with the younger writers, who trend toward "Tik Tok" style journalism. (Which I'll be writing more about) So, in their coverage, many of the veteran writers are covering their asses or laying low.
Trump is targeting everyone who gets on his bad side with a pervasive security threat. He buys off friends and allies with endorsements and money. He secures the loyalty of his most lawless supporters with promises of pardons in the future if they do his bidding. Liz Cheney is relatively impervious to these things, which is why she is the outlier.
These are the facts, as opposed to the mealy- mouthed mush presented in Rubin's WaPo article. This is where the "mainstream" becomes a sewer pipe which dumps toxic Blackwater into our rivers and streams of information. In a certain way it's as hazardous as Fox News, because it understates the dire nature of our crisis. It's also why you need a good filter.
