More At Stake Than Most Know--

Stopping abortion was the "hot button" issue or "hook" which was used by the right-wing fascist billionaire advocates of a "New Confederacy" to take over the majority of fundamentalist Evangelical and Catholic Churches, then to mobilize them into the GOP with a program in favor of "States Rights". They called this "The Southern Strategy".

The purpose of it was to create an army of mindless religious zealots and racist bigots, to use the abortion issue to sell them a political ideology which demonized non-fundamentalist Christians, liberals or Progressives as "satanic." The GOP in the grip of these fascist and Libertarian anti-government fanatics then brainwashed them against our Constitutional System, particularly the role of our modern Federal government. This is not to minimize or distract from the enormous suffering and hardship which will result from this decision, especially for poor and minority women. It will be tragic, but this is the big picture. 

Overturning "Roe vs Wade" is the foot in the door for realizing the goals of the fascist/Neo-Confederate "Federalist Society", whose Supreme Court members intend to leverage their decision into an attack on the "General Welfare" clause of the Constitution's Preamble, and every policy associated with that clause of the past 90 years. It begins a complete takedown of the essential functions of the Federal Government. 

If this sticks, say goodbye to the 14th Amendment, anti-discrimination legislation, Voting and Civil Rights for ethnic and gender minorities, protections for Labor, the environment and consumers. Bid farewell to Social Security, Medicare, regulation of Corporations, investigative bodies like the Securities and Exchange Commission, enforcement agencies like the EPA, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Federal Election Commission, the FDA, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Anything standing in the way of this clique of oligarchs from accelerating their looting and stealing from the American people will be wiped aside. Their argument is that said oligarchs are "more efficient" at running the economy than those who are elected by the people. 

The GOP states will nullify Federal Law as they choose. 

If the GOP takes both Houses of Congress and the Presidency, projects or agencies started by the government and subject to Congressional oversight will be privatized, broken up and sold off to profiteers,  for example, Interstate Highways, the TVA.  GOP states will act to privatize Law Enforcement and turn them into vigilante based squads of bounty hunters and deputized Militia members who will be financially rewarded for bagging suspects. More states will adopt varieties of the Death Penalty which increase in their barbarity, disregarding the Constitutional protections against "cruel and unusual punishment", as they are already beginning to. They will operate with no accountability to previous SCOTUS decisions on the rights of the accused. In those states, Federal prisons will be shut down, privatized and run for profit, using prison slave labor to drive down further the wages of free Labor.

This is but a short and not comprehensive list of what this monstrous decision means. It is a grave danger to all of us, not only women whose rights to make their own health decisions are being taken away. We need to make sure we engage many constituencies in the fight against this. And by this, we mean States Rights, in which these states declare themselves Sovereign, in effect, leaving The Union, becoming corporate entities unto themselves. This ruling is a license for slow, unannounced secession, not a ruling based on actual US Law. 

The GOP is now the enemy of America, a New Confederacy. And make no mistake, their pathway to power is not just the Supreme Court. It is many more January 6ths, in every state Capitol. If vote stealing and re-districting doesn't work, truckbombs are their fallback. Politics is just their cover for launching a religious war and race war, here, in the US. And if we have learned anything, history tells us that religious wars are like an oil fire which burns forever and grows hotter, an inexorable slide into hell.  Because it is irrational, it has no end. 

We need to remember that the worst of the right-wing judges on SCOTUS are religious fundamentalists, and were supportive of Trump's Coup. They are imposing their religious views using the doctrines of "Originalism and textualism", through which they assert the primacy of their own world view in interpreting the intentions of America's founders, just like the fundamentalist charlatan Ministers who claim to know best the mind of God, the meaning of the Bible, and the realization of "God's Plan". 

And, unfortunately, they will be there for a good while. Trying to influence them is a dead letter, arriving nowhere. Don't bother demonstrating at the Supreme Court, unless you want to get arrested while accomplishing nothing. If you want to protest, run for office, and use your campaign to build a political movement which does things, besides protest about what we've lost after the enemy has won a string of strategic victories. 

This is no longer just about the politics of gender. It is life and death for the US. For us, not a day goes by without us wishing we were there to help lead the opposition.  In the meantime, some of our friends need to start leading. I hope we are finally ready for it.
