The Issue of DeSantis Actions Is The Measure Of Our Resistance To Evil--

Lost in the jumble of events is that DeSantis personally caused the deaths by negligent homicide of thousands due to his personal obstruction and sabotage of the scientifically determined Federal guidelines for covid mitigation. This, by the Governor who justified letting Florida's senior citizens die off by referring to his state as "God's waiting room". 

He is a self-styled fascist dictator with blood on his hands. He is worse than a gay bashing racist and religious bigot. He is a mass murderer of people in his own state, and is in process of building his Presidential campaign apparatus. 

This is why we need to build a bigger and better activist movement to make up for what the Democratic leadership is not doing. Wishing away Trump, hoping he is indicted really is no solution. DeSantis IS the future of the fascist/fundamentalist/ QAnon GOP, funded by billionaires who want to nullify the last 90 years of economic and social progress. 

Their goal? Destroy the essential functions of government to "get rid of all of the dead wood, the unfit", to coin a term of the Social Darwinists. To turn the whole of the US into "God's waiting room". Not. Just. Florida. 

Americans who oppose this are growing increasingly frustrated that our leaders are so lacking in combativeness and unity of purpose. The fascist GOP of Trump/DeSantis is a runaway train. The polls show that the youth, who should be on the front lines of this fight, are becoming demoralized and antagonized by the lack of engagement by the Democrats and WH. Only 3 months ago the voting rights activists and Stacey Abrams boycotted President Biden's speech in Georgia because African Americans felt "stiff-armed" by WH refusal until too late to address the filibuster. 

One must ask, in light of the recent approval ratings, why aren't WH political advisors being fired? Why do the DNC leadership still have jobs? We all know what will happen in November. Is there no need to make leadership changes, go into emergency mode, do massive outreach to civil rights and youth activists? No, let's just keep fighting them in court. How has that been working for us so far? 

We are ourselves not doing enough. It is insufficient to just "circle the wagons" in defense of President Biden. We need house meetings, coffee klatches, town meetings, off campus events for students, not just for voting purposes, but to build a movement for social and economic justice. Our delusional approach of hoping lawyers in courtrooms will solve our problems, when the fascists control the federal bench all the way to the top, is, in a word, pathetic. 

More Political organizing and action is what is needed, not cheerleading for lawyers. The question is, who among us wants to step forward and help lead it?

Milton Friedman- The Man Who Revived Fascist Economics, and Called It "Freedom".

  You may have heard the name before, as he was featured in a PBS Series, titled "Free To Choose", also the title of his most famous and misnamed book. He was a prolific author, and widely publicized by Conservative News Media and Magazines, especially by the followers of William F. Buckley. In fact, Milton Friedman is the current top economic advisor to the so-called "movement conservatives", from Nixon to Reagan, to Newt Gingrich and Trumpworld,  and is still to this day the main architect of the GOP approach to dealing with the present economic crisis, though he has been keeping a low profile. How Do You Know If What You Are Reading Is True Or Useful? - A One Year Old Facebook Post

 How do we know whether what we are reading is true, or for that matter useful? There are many journalists in the US today who are not only excellent writers, but are just good people. They are well informed, have the best intentions and are highly professional.  I have to force myself to write, and it comes with great difficulty because I am blocked, and had little journalistic training. Without an editor I feel lost, and feel as though I want to rewrite everything or throw it out after I read it. Reading books and articles is my favorite hobby, and when I'm doing that I am in my happy place.  As of now I have 30 News and Magazine sites bookmarked and I read them everyday as a routine. I usually read anywhere from 2-10 articles in each, depending upon what newsworthy events are breaking that day. Plus I have a number of books on history that I have going at any one time.
