The Coming Derailment Of The Trump/GOP "Runaway Train"--

 


(the following was written as what was supposed to be a short comment on Professor HCR's letter, but as usual I got a little carried away and it became something else. FWIW, I see a gigantic opening on the political battlefield which was gifted to us by our arrogant and stupid adversary, and feel that we have to move quickly and forcefully to exploit it) 

["Heather Cox Richardson --The GOP, Trumpworld and Fox have two huge problems. One is obviously that all of their publicly released 'loveletters" to Putin are on video. And they were "sealed with a kiss" on the days immediately before and after the invasion when emotions and fear were at their highest. They cannot put the toothpaste back in the tube, those videos and statements are forever, and many Americans saw clearly that the intent behind it was to inflict maximum harm on the US Government and the President. Many people who were in thrall of Trump previously were personally revolted by his and his followers behavior, and the SOTU Bobblehead invasion put a fine point on it, coming at the moment in time and circumstances that it did. 

Secondly, in the tradition of someone who digs themselves in a hole and feels compelled to dig even deeper, the GOP and Fox have engaged in a pathetically impotent attempt to reverse their field and are now standing with Ukraine. That too is on tape. So the Democrats now have the two-faced fork tongued lying liars spinning fantasy/fiction saying they were with Ukraine against Putin, to shove down the proverbial throats of Trumpworld in combination with Trump's personal attempts to double down in defending Putin. They are like a runaway train whose engineer is letting the throttle out to go faster while the conductor is slamming the brakes. I see a derailment coming. 

The unintended consequence of Trumpworld's defense of Putin, their blatant lies in retracting it, and vitriolic attacks blaming Biden for what Putin did while following Trump's lead, is that they actually rallied support for President Biden and antagonized their own base. It demonstrates that the hard core Trump followers are actually as stupid or worse as the Greene-Bobblehead geek show, though maybe a bit more sophisticated. Anyone who has studied the US Presidency knows that it is a uniquely American trait (good or bad) to rally around the President in a time of National Security crisis. It is as certain as the tides of the Ocean. And Trump in his gargantuan arrogance and stupidity, like the mythical King Canute, ordered the Ocean waves to stop, with the predictable results. 

My hope has been all along that the President's advisers and Cabinet would anticipate a moment of potential self-implosion of the Trumpians and be prepared for taking full advantage of it. The adversary has given us a huge opening to undo their damage. I think the President is looking for backup from the American people to take on this monstrous creature that has body snatched the GOP. And I think that gives some context to the decision by the White House to avail themselves of the unique movement of this community gathered around you Professor. He is looking for an organizing force to bring more of his supporters onto the political field of battle, now that the battle lines have shifted. My apologies as this was supposed to be a short comment but my enthusiasm is high today. Be well, and safe travels."]

Milton Friedman- The Man Who Revived Fascist Economics, and Called It "Freedom".

  You may have heard the name before, as he was featured in a PBS Series, titled "Free To Choose", also the title of his most famous and misnamed book. He was a prolific author, and widely publicized by Conservative News Media and Magazines, especially by the followers of William F. Buckley. In fact, Milton Friedman is the current top economic advisor to the so-called "movement conservatives", from Nixon to Reagan, to Newt Gingrich and Trumpworld,  and is still to this day the main architect of the GOP approach to dealing with the present economic crisis, though he has been keeping a low profile. A very low profile. In fact, six feet under. How Do You Know If What You Are Reading Is True Or Useful? - A One Year Old Facebook Post

 How do we know whether what we are reading is true, or for that matter useful? There are many journalists in the US today who are not only excellent writers, but are just good people. They are well informed, have the best intentions and are highly professional.  I have to force myself to write, and it comes with great difficulty because I am blocked, and had little journalistic training. Without an editor I feel lost, and feel as though I want to rewrite everything or throw it out after I read it. Reading books and articles is my favorite hobby, and when I'm doing that I am in my happy place.  As of now I have 30 News and Magazine sites bookmarked and I read them everyday as a routine. I usually read anywhere from 2-10 articles in each, depending upon what newsworthy events are breaking that day. Plus I have a number of books on history that I have going at any one time.
