Two Years Ago Today-- The First "Rosen Report" Forecast For Year 2020, A Retrospective
Two Years ago today, I rolled out an assessment for the year 2020, before covid really hit. This piece (screenshot and highlights below) is on the Blog with the title "Clear and Present Danger", and it was in the context of the first Impeachment. I knew it would not result in conviction, and based on his personality disorder I knew he would deteriorate greatly afterward.
So, this was the first time I said publicly that Trump would be prepared to launch a violent Coup and start a Civil conflict in order to keep power. My life, and certainly my wife Martha's has not been the same since. I began forcing myself to overcome writers block and my shortcomings in the grammar department, and put on my political organizing and researchers hats after being "out of the game" pretty much since 2012. And I did all of my own writing, not content to post other people's work or Memes, except in cases I felt commentary was warranted.
It was difficult going because I had no political networks or organization to back me up, and little in the way of resources. What I had was my political experience and a partner in Martha who kept me focused, added her insights, and who vetted everything I posted of significance, becoming my content editor in effect.
Also difficult was that most of the people I knew who were Facebook friends thought I was off the wall or exaggerating, or simply had no interest. My posts and Blog articles would get 3 reactions, no shares, and it was the "sound of silence" as I churned out article after article. One friend from High School called me paranoid and delusional. Others became distant, thinking I was extreme. And that was when I started working on my case of bleeding gastritis and iron deficiency anemia from the stress, far more than I had ever gone through, even including during my fundraising heyday when we lived with a constant threat of of legal and other personal attacks.
And finally I had to develop reliable sources. Many people who are political and became active on Facebook began reading the news, and posting articles from various commentators in hopes of getting enough going to get Trump voted out. This was something that grew during the Pandemic as people had time at home to think about politics, history and ideas in a new way.
My greatest concerns were the degeneration of a very large part of our population which was embracing fascism, and the fact that the majority of Trump's opposition was in a state of abject denial. Many refused to believe that he was capable of the specific things I was warning about, and the parallels with the rise of fascist regimes in Europe in mid 20th Century. People did not want to see or hear it. "Civil War, Coups, State of Emergency and Martial Law, really Lance are you nuts"? So there was that. After Trump's actions in response to the George Floyd demonstrations in the Summer of that year, finally reality began to set in with the opposition. We were staring into the pit of Hell.
As I've said, because of the current situation I feel that I need to amplify my voice and expand our outreach, which is the only reason I frequently repost excerpts and back archive articles, because our track record of analysis and forecasting is all we have in the way of "credentials. Not a "Blue Check", or Author's tag, or a media group byline.
