One Year Ago Today On Inauguration Day-- My Thoughts And Hopes On Watching Trump Leave

Last night, our modern day Richard III was visited in his sleep by 400,000 souls, whose lives were taken from us by his lies, deceptions, malignant indifference, ambition,  his self-hatred projected outward, and incapacity for empathy. He reacted to each and every visit as he has always when confronted with the stirring of a long dead conscience, with rage, anger, rationalization, compounded fury and a burning resolution that if today is his end, he will destroy as much and take as many people down with him as possible, even innocents.  Emphatically he swears revenge against not only his enemies, but those former loyalists who betrayed him.

He screams into the howling wind, "I didn't kill anybody!"  And with one voice, the chorus of 400,000 replies, "well then, if so, we surely are not dead". He sleeps not one minute more.

As for those deluded soldiers who still fight for him, he thinks nothing of them, for he is prepared to throw their lives away as well to serve his goal of keeping his Crown, even if it means destroying his Kingdom and sacrificing his remaining loyal subjects. He is now the only Sovereign and Subject of a new Kingdom unto himself.

At the end, his apparent bravery and courage in battle is exposed as just the impotent flailing of a coward, alone and left with nothing, aware that his reign is over, whose only thought now is escape.

And he just lost his Horse. This is how the Tyrant meets his end, as have all before him. Alone, in disgrace, the subject of scorn, ridicule, and in future times the subject for valuable life lessons written in children's school books, dramas and museums, performed, read, and displayed for those yet born, that they might see, where we were blind.

The last act is still unwritten. But, as in Shakespeare, we have for the moment survived a great Evil, until the curtain on our stage rises again.
