Some Initial Thoughts On The Larger Implications If SCOTUS Overturns Roe vs Wade-- Speaking As A Male That Is--

Aside from the personal aspect of this coming ruling, which will force Women into making decisions which are both impossible and awful, I think there are four interrelated issues which should be considered, speaking as a Male who will never have to make such difficult personal decisions myself, but has nearly a lifetime of fighting for Human Rights on my track record.

1. This is the lead edge of setting precedents for asserting States Rights, which opens the door for Nullification of the most essential functions of the Federal government across the board, including the social safety net and anti-discrimination laws.

2. This is an obvious effort to roll back centuries of efforts to establish equal rights for women, in the name of some fake Biblical ideal society under a phoney Christian version of Sharia Law.

3. This is and has been from the beginning a barely disguised racist policy of eugenics, in which the "white right" is desperately attempting to counteract the plunging demographic of births of white babies, out of fears they are going to be overrun or "replaced" by POC's. This is ironic, since the Christian right wing has always claimed that campaigns for Abortion Rights and Planned Parenthood's founder Margaret Sanger were conspiring to carry out a racial Eugenics policy against minorities through birth control and abortion. As is often the case, the right wing projects onto others the rotten ideas they hold themselves, and the crimes they wish to commit in the future. They accuse others of being what they already are.

4. And finally, the fixation and fetishism on the rights of the "unborn" to the exclusion of all others is a historical trope rooted in the infamous anti-semitic "Blood Libel". It is the outgrowth of the Flagellant Cult in the Church during the 14th Century Black Death, namely the belief that Jews (or as in today, Liberals, secular humanists or Socialists) deliberately spread the Plague, and protected their own by slaughtering Christian Babies to drink their Blood as the cure. (Not unlike those pro-lifers today who believe in plots by the elites to abort Babies en masse to use their stem cells for medical treatment or for vaccines)  This belief was a core element of the anti-semitism of the late 19th Century, spread through the forged fakery the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion,"  later merged into the Nazis Aryan racial theories. The proto-terrorist cult QAnon has explicitly revived the anti-semitic Blood Libel as part of their conspiracism today, (See Pizzagate and their fake campaign to expose human trafficking pedophile cannibals) and not coincidently has interfaced with the right wing Catholic and Evangelical leadership for this reason.

I believe it is a bad strategy to focus on the second issue narrowly defined. That would be playing into the rigged game strategy which has enabled them to control the debate, and bring these legal challenges. If Roe is overturned, it's because the Federalist Society "originalists" on the SCOTUS who are flying the banner of States Rights will do it, and they will not use some argument that women are second class citizens. Equal Rights for Women now is entrenched settled law, and they won't fight to undo Roe with that tactic . It is implied, but it is not the case they are making.

Their purpose is to use the States Rights argument to install the whole package of policy changes, turning the US into a pro-fascist Neo-Confederate Theocracy. Women stand to lose a lot more than the right to determine their own Healthcare. Americans will lose the right to vote, have Social Security, Medicare, Medical Assistence, Welfare, and unemployment benefits, and the hard fought protections for Labor, LGBTQ marriage and Civil Rights among other things if these precedents are allowed to stand. To take this as a single issue is a guarantee we will lose on all issues, in my view.

This isn't the "be all end all argument, but is meant to provoke some added critical thinking and discussion, and a broader view of what is at stake.

Sometimes a soldier in a foxhole has the worst view of the battlefield, and least understanding of what is going on around them. In combat tactics, you are trained to fight the enemy in front of you with whatever weapons available, or to retreat. In political strategy, you need the big picture to make your decisions.

(Photo above-- poster with a Poem as an ode to "States Rights" put up as a recruitment poster for Southern men to join their State's Confederate Army. It's Titled "Air of the Grocery Store" It also takes aim at pro Union politicians as traitors. Tap on the picture to enlarge and read it)

Addendum--

A very informed and sympathetic friend told me that people she has had discussions with have told her that she is "overstating" the potential destructive effects of SCOTUS overturning Roe. This was my response.

________, absolutely, and you are an authority I totally respect on all of these matters you've written about. Your discussion partners are issuing a programmed response, talking points they are fed in order to divert, deflect, and gaslight. They say you are overstating because they want you to think you have a mental problem. Everything they say, no matter how plausible it sounds, comes from that place. Unless they are so abjectly terrified that they are just in denial, and can't handle the implications.

As far as the religious types of radical anti-abortion activists go, for the most part THEY found Jesus. THEIR Church is the true pathway and the light. THEIR seat in Heaven is reserved, because it was predestined before they were born. If something goes wrong with our lives or society, it is our fault because we haven't attained Grace, and our minds are not with God.

They are trained to lie about those things which might expose their hypocrisy and fake piety. Lying, and reliance on the interpretations of others on the "written word" are forms of addiction, which replaced whatever addiction they might have had before being "born again". From drugs to alcohol, sex, money, and then to God. As long as they give money to their church, they can give up one addiction and keep the rest, and they can continue their existence as recidivist sinners, going back and forth during their down time from Heaven to Hell. There is no accountability at all, since "God is in control".

I'll never argue with a religious zealot again. There are too many people who want to learn and do something effective to waste my time on lying addicts, hypocrites and Mammon worshippers. But that's just me, lol.
