On The Immediate Danger of A Coup--

Hello all! I hope you are all recovered and have gotten some rest. You'll need it. As I said the other day, my plan was to lay low for a few days, unwind, celebrate, have a few drinks and then sleep it off until Tuesday. In a few minutes it will be Tuesday. So, here I am. 

In case anyone is curious, Martha and I are still happy about the Election result, though I would have been happier if we had gotten the landslide for Joe that we had hoped for. Given the Pandemic and massive illegal interference with the vote by Trump, the GOP, Louis DeJoy, etc, I think we did pretty good. 

There has been some news worth breaking my interlude to report on though. Not least is the story of the firing of Mike Esper, Defense Secretary. 

(Note, for my longer term readers, you will remember I sounded the alarm in June of 2020, warning of the implications of Esper being fired. Esper made himself Trump's enemy by teaming up with Joint Chiefs Chairman General Milley to stop the implementation of the 1807 Insurrection Act in response to the George Floyd protests. I said specifically that Esper's firing would be preparatory to a purge of the high command, and the signal that Trump was going for a Coup. LFR 11-10-21)

Most of the Media coverage has been in the form of saying, "Trump is having a tantrum, let him fire people, it doesn't matter, he is done...he'll fire more people, he won't concede, he'll obstruct the transition, but it won't change anything, etc."

Most of you know at some level that this media coverage is bullshit. They used to call it "whistling past the graveyard". At this point, the one thing I can guarantee is that nothing is guaranteed. 

The unfortunate problem I have in writing anything about this is that very few people want to read anything by me right now.  For many, I've become "the Voice of Doom, Mr. Negative", "the guy who I used to like hanging out with at Karoake Night who's now turned into a pompous judgmental asshole who thinks he knows everything". I get that. Maybe that's not wrong. But face facts,  the emotional undertow which now pulls on all of us is the desire for escape, rest, easing our stress, going back to some kind of normal, coping with financial problems, health, holidays, family, and catching up with our friends, favorite series, teams, movies and games. We wish that Trump and everything associated with him would just go away, and we find it easier to believe that now with Biden/Harris the announced winner, that it will. The feeling most have had since Saturday has been relief. And here I come along to say something which is the last thing you want to hear.

Those of you who believe that you are watching his apparent unravelling have greatly underestimated his capacity for evil, his power, and his mental illness. The biggest and most tragic error in history we could make right now is to take the announcement of Saturday as the signal to demobilize. 

We are not out of this by any means. We are entering a new phase of awful. I'm sorry. We are. 

I'm not going to repeat myself, since you all know what I've been warning about, with Esper's firing, Trump's refusal to concede, and the kinds of crises unfolding over the next two months. I can't say what will happen, other than Trump himself will conform absolutely to profile, and do all of those things which we have been worrying about over the course of many sleepless nights. The future of the Presidency at this time is out of our hands, as it is being determined by a brawl among the "Olympians". 

What we can control is our own destiny, our survival of the Pandemic, and the direction of US policy, domestically and internationally. There is no legitimate reason our future should be held hostage to an infantile babyman, a ragebitch, a psychotic and delusional wannabe Oligarch who would rather engage in Oedipally driven mass homicide than leave behind a legacy one iota short of that left by his racist psychopathic Father. They will continue trying to steal our votes, but they cannot steal our voices. We are not yet a Dictatorship, and folks like myself are not accepting offers to sit down and drink Russian Polonium Tea. 

That said, speaking for myself, the focus from here will be threefold going further. Firstly, I'll continue my commentary on our ongoing Constitutional crisis, and try to bring to the table something necessary and different from the standard fare of the mainstream Press. I may piss some of you off, but I promise you won't be bored. Secondly, I'll address economic policy, and go at it as a Global crisis. Thirdly, I'll cover and expose what I am picking up through various sources, which is an array of serious ongoing political attacks being prepared against President-Elect Biden and Pope Francis, coming out of the same political orbit, which represent a more dangerous and historical threat to all of us than even the deranged soon-to-be ex-President, and future professional Defendant, Donald Trump. 

I know who the bad guys are, and what they have planned. That's what you will read about here. Otherwise, Martha is writing Part 3 of her series on FDR. if you haven't yet read Parts 1 and 2, stop putting it off. Don't make me come over there. 😉

Milton Friedman- The Man Who Revived Fascist Economics, and Called It "Freedom".

  You may have heard the name before, as he was featured in a PBS Series, titled "Free To Choose", also the title of his most famous and misnamed book. He was a prolific author, and widely publicized by Conservative News Media and Magazines, especially by the followers of William F. Buckley. In fact, Milton Friedman is the current top economic advisor to the so-called "movement conservatives", from Nixon to Reagan, to Newt Gingrich and Trumpworld,  and is still to this day the main architect of the GOP approach to dealing with the present economic crisis, though he has been keeping a low profile. How Do You Know If What You Are Reading Is True Or Useful? - A One Year Old Facebook Post

 How do we know whether what we are reading is true, or for that matter useful? There are many journalists in the US today who are not only excellent writers, but are just good people. They are well informed, have the best intentions and are highly professional.  I have to force myself to write, and it comes with great difficulty because I am blocked, and had little journalistic training. Without an editor I feel lost, and feel as though I want to rewrite everything or throw it out after I read it. Reading books and articles is my favorite hobby, and when I'm doing that I am in my happy place.  As of now I have 30 News and Magazine sites bookmarked and I read them everyday as a routine. I usually read anywhere from 2-10 articles in each, depending upon what newsworthy events are breaking that day. Plus I have a number of books on history that I have going at any one time.
