Why Trump Republicans Need the "Boogeyman" of Socialism to Bring About Fascism-- From One Year Ago

 



A friend of mine asked me this, so I copied the question and my answer, posting here.

"Can you explain why Trump supporters are using examples of Socialism to tarnish the Democrats? Every ism has its flaws, it is the people in charge that are the problem"

Me: ..."the followers of Trump, as well as his Wall Street backers, and Billionaire enablers, are, for the most part, Social Darwinists. They believe that any policy, be it on economics, health care, public health, education, National Security, food production, water management, sanitation or transportation, which impedes the progress of "Nature" in weeding out the unfit, is a bad policy, and intrinsically Socialistic. 

Through fabricated arguments based on fake history, they associate any policy which is directed toward the "General Welfare" (see Preamble US Constitution) with authoritarian failed systems which they call "command economies", like the Soviet Bloc.

 They argue that the exertions of the rugged individual, driven by greed, acting in the marketplace, unfettered by government, will always be more efficient, and profitable than enterprises created or run by government. 

Their argument is that the motivation of greed, to engage in warfare of the marketplace, a Hobbesian "War of all against all" is the ideal economic system, as it will reward those who are fittest, and crush the unfit, and everything will turn out better, and the profits "trickle down". 

The people who promote this Social Darwinian gobbledygook are unrepentant racists, Eugenicists, radical Predestinationist Calvinists, Prosperity Theologists, Imperial minded Financial Pirates, Neo Confederates, and Malthusians, whose concept of freedom is the right to steal, loot, and speculate. If they cause famine, epidemic disease, etc, that's just the "Laws of Nature" at work.  They are NOT Capitalists, in the sense that Hamilton, Lincoln, FDR were. They are actually feudalists.

 Anything that stands between them and their loot, they label "Socialism" to make Americans and other victims of Cold War insanity feel unpatriotic if they support policies in support of the Common Good. It's a form of ideological brainwashing.

And of course, many people who identify themselves as Socialists are sufficiently ideological and incompetent in economics, that they give the Right Wing Darwinians credibility. This is why I've said that the so called Left vs Right ideological Wars since the French Revolution have been contrived, synthetic, phoney, and used to manipulate and divide people, a favorite tool of the Oligarchy going back millennia. So, that's my short answer. 😉

Milton Friedman- The Man Who Revived Fascist Economics, and Called It "Freedom".

  You may have heard the name before, as he was featured in a PBS Series, titled "Free To Choose", also the title of his most famous and misnamed book. He was a prolific author, and widely publicized by Conservative News Media and Magazines, especially by the followers of William F. Buckley. In fact, Milton Friedman is the current top economic advisor to the so-called "movement conservatives", from Nixon to Reagan, to Newt Gingrich and Trumpworld,  and is still to this day the main architect of the GOP approach to dealing with the present economic crisis, though he has been keeping a low profile. How Do You Know If What You Are Reading Is True Or Useful? - A One Year Old Facebook Post

 How do we know whether what we are reading is true, or for that matter useful? There are many journalists in the US today who are not only excellent writers, but are just good people. They are well informed, have the best intentions and are highly professional.  I have to force myself to write, and it comes with great difficulty because I am blocked, and had little journalistic training. Without an editor I feel lost, and feel as though I want to rewrite everything or throw it out after I read it. Reading books and articles is my favorite hobby, and when I'm doing that I am in my happy place.  As of now I have 30 News and Magazine sites bookmarked and I read them everyday as a routine. I usually read anywhere from 2-10 articles in each, depending upon what newsworthy events are breaking that day. Plus I have a number of books on history that I have going at any one time.
