Not So Random Thoughts- The Washington's Birthday Edition...

Why Trump supporters cannot tell the truth about the Cherry Tree....or anything
Some of you still have friends and family supporting Trump because they are religious. You might want to remind yourselves of certain things they find it convenient to ignore in doing so.
1. They ignore the absurdity of his claim to be "Pro-Life", while he escalated executions and endorsed the shooting of migrants, caging and separation of families, ad infinitum...
2. They ignore his refusal to admit or repent for his serial breaking of his marriage vows to each of his wives, cheating with models, porn stars, and conducting sexual assault. What do you call a sinner who never repents?
3. They ignore the disconnect between his claim to stand for Law and Order, while he pardoned his equally unrepentent cronies for Financial crimes, endorsed White Nationalist gangs who conduct vigilante killings of peaceful demonstrators, and whose family made a Billion dollars profiteering off of his Presidency.
4. They ignore the obvious insanity of his claims to want fair elections, while he and his GOP advisors like Stone and Manafort have 45 years of experience in running dirty tricks and stealing elections.
5. They ignore the overt contradiction of his claim that he will "Make America Great Again", while operating as a Russian Intelligence asset for 40 years.
6. They ignore the apparent conflict between his professed love for Israel, and his praise for Nazis and White Nationalists as "Fine People" who were welcomed to speak at his rallies.
7. They ignore the reality that his "great economy" was simply Bubble creation, funded by tax cuts and deregulation, allowing the greedy top 5% of income earners to profiteer and loot. How is "Mammon Worship" consistent with Christian values?
8. They ignore his obscene lies and sabotage of the US response to the Pandemic, causing 500,000 deaths, and then use the Fundamentalist's "God's Will" defense for the death toll.
9. They ignore the obvious fakery of his invocations to Patriotism and to respect the Flag, while pronouncing that he "fell in love" with the most dangerous, murderous, insane Communist Dictator on Earth, Kim Jong Un, who two years ago removed his Uncle from government due to disloyalty. He arranged a firing squad with an 88 millimeter Artillery gun which blew him into 400 pieces at close range, and made the other prisoners pick up his remains. Does an actual "Christian" fall in love with guys like that?
10. If your religious friends and family find it so convenient to ignore these things, what makes you think they won't ignore you in a time of need? What else are they willing to ignore? The word "ignorance" doesn't mean stupid. It means one committed to ignoring reality, and a desire to not know something or much of anything. It is the identity of a uniquely selfish person, at odds with the real world and most other people. And the issue then is no longer Trump, but the question, "how much willful stubborn ignorance, and how many lies from them are acceptable"? Just curious.

Milton Friedman- The Man Who Revived Fascist Economics, and Called It "Freedom".

  You may have heard the name before, as he was featured in a PBS Series, titled "Free To Choose", also the title of his most famous and misnamed book. He was a prolific author, and widely publicized by Conservative News Media and Magazines, especially by the followers of William F. Buckley. In fact, Milton Friedman is the current top economic advisor to the so-called "movement conservatives", from Nixon to Reagan, to Newt Gingrich and Trumpworld,  and is still to this day the main architect of the GOP approach to dealing with the present economic crisis, though he has been keeping a low profile. A very low profile. In fact, six feet under. He is currently dead, and has been for 14 years, yet his horrific philosophy continues to stalk about, haunting us like the living dead animated by a Voodoo curse, burning live Chickens, chanting incantations, and propitiating the irrational forces of Britain's Adam Smith and his "Invisible Hand". How Do You Know If What You Are Reading Is True Or Useful? - A One Year Old Facebook Post

 How do we know whether what we are reading is true, or for that matter useful? There are many journalists in the US today who are not only excellent writers, but are just good people. They are well informed, have the best intentions and are highly professional.  I have to force myself to write, and it comes with great difficulty because I am blocked, and had little journalistic training. Without an editor I feel lost, and feel as though I want to rewrite everything or throw it out after I read it. Reading books and articles is my favorite hobby, and when I'm doing that I am in my happy place.  As of now I have 30 News and Magazine sites bookmarked and I read them everyday as a routine. I usually read anywhere from 2-10 articles in each, depending upon what newsworthy events are breaking that day. Plus I have a number of books on history that I have going at any one time. This is no big accomplishment or unique, it's just how I occupy my time and is my form of work these ...
