White Supremacist Infiltration of Law Enforcement--Revisited

White Supremacist Infiltration of Law Enforcement, Revisited.

I took note of this timely article linked below in "The Guardian," highlighting the renewed calls for investigation of White Supremacist infiltration of Police Departments over many years.

Some ex-friends of mine reacted with some big time gaslighting when I started writing about this in May, after the George Floyd murder. I was accused of wild exaggeration, and told that "it's only "a very few bad Apples" by those people who defended the Police racist killings, and the actions of right wing vigilantes against protesters. Those folks soon became "unfriended". A few told me that I was paranoid about Nazis and was contriving a "conspiracy theory".

The standard retort for people whose ego is invested in defending their ideology is to go on a personal attack and try to discredit you personally, rather than try to resolve the apparent  contradiction between reality and their opinions. The goal there is to blow up the discussion, or the entire relationship, to avoid confrontation with the truth.  Many of you have had this experience with pro-Trump friends, or those frozen by their fears and denial. The shock and crisis of June's mass demos and rioting forced people to reveal their true selves, and defend whatever stand they were taking at the time.

There was never an "all right or all wrong" opinion on the matter, but it did become evident that far more people than we realized were harboring a boatload of vitriolic racism which they had been hiding, until Trump with his incendiary statements gave them cover to let it all out.

Looking at the events of January 6 and since, hearing the revelations and warnings of the depths and sheer numbers of Police and Military who sympathize or work with White Supremacists across the US, is validation for those who have been most vocal in warning about it, like the journalists at The Guardian, and the informal network of former FBI Agents and others, who unbound by politics, have been on this story forever.

You all know what I've written over the past two years, and it's all on my Blog for those who want to refresh their memories. This is one of the biggest challenges facing the Biden administration. There is no easy solution. It will require a change in the culture of Law Enforcement, and will take a generation for it to fully take effect. Reforms are urgently needed, and we need to start somewhere, but don't kid yourselves that this is imminently fixable, any more than people should delude themselves that "Trumpism" will disappear with Donald Trump.
