In Regard to Trump Supporters and GOP Members---

I used to have some empathy and patience for the majority of Trump supporters. I thought many of them were decent people, angry at what they saw as unfair treatment, misled by corrupt political and religious leaders, brainwashed by Right-Wing Media, mostly not hard core racists but suffering from ignorance, privilege, and insularity. So, for many of these folks I cut them some slack and hoped that with changes in the Pandemic and the economy, they could be calmed down and reintegrated. I knew the extremists would still be out there in force, creating huge problems and conflict, but thought a Biden recovery might "take the wind out of their sails" somewhat. 

Not any more. No Sir, no Ma'am. After everything Trump and the GOP have done to instigate Insurrection, obstruct the new President, continue their disgusting Big Lie about the election result, welcoming and mainstreaming of their new terrorist sympathizing lunatic Congressional members, their continuing cover up for the crimes and corruption of Trump himself...if they are STILL defending Trump and the GOP, after seeing all of this, They. Are. Just....

Whatever good any of them might have done in their lives they have squandered and negated, as they now have crossed over to the dark side. They have to live with their own immorality and its consequences, and it's them and their children who will bear the suffering of their own stupidity and ignorance. 

And the Trump supporters are going to get worse. Trump intends to bring out the worst in even the better of them. He is going to use the Impeachment Trial to double and triple down on what he unleashed on January 6th. And I fear for the future unless some new factor enters in to derail this runaway train of mass insanity. We are living through a virtual replay of the disintegration of the Weimar Republic in 1930's Germany. Hopefully, enough people in power recognize this, have learned the lessons of history and are prepared to act as Lincoln did, the last time we almost lost our Republic. 

March 4th is an inflection point in all of this. Coming after Trump is acquitted, it is the day which the craziest of the crazies believe is the authentic "Constitutional" day for the "authentic" President, Donald Trump to be inaugurated President for a second term. I point to this as a week and a day in which our authorities need to be on full alert, with a National Guard deployment to State Capitols, DC, and the rest of us should stay home. 

At a certain point, commentary on the News doesn't do it for me, and I have to present my own thoughts. Sorry if this is a downer.

Milton Friedman- The Man Who Revived Fascist Economics, and Called It "Freedom".

  You may have heard the name before, as he was featured in a PBS Series, titled "Free To Choose", also the title of his most famous and misnamed book. He was a prolific author, and widely publicized by Conservative News Media and Magazines, especially by the followers of William F. Buckley. In fact, Milton Friedman is the current top economic advisor to the so-called "movement conservatives", from Nixon to Reagan, to Newt Gingrich and Trumpworld,  and is still to this day the main architect of the GOP approach to dealing with the present economic crisis, though he has been keeping a low profile. A very low profile. In fact, six feet under. How Do You Know If What You Are Reading Is True Or Useful? - A One Year Old Facebook Post

 How do we know whether what we are reading is true, or for that matter useful? There are many journalists in the US today who are not only excellent writers, but are just good people. They are well informed, have the best intentions and are highly professional.  I have to force myself to write, and it comes with great difficulty because I am blocked, and had little journalistic training. Without an editor I feel lost, and feel as though I want to rewrite everything or throw it out after I read it. Reading books and articles is my favorite hobby, and when I'm doing that I am in my happy place.  As of now I have 30 News and Magazine sites bookmarked and I read them everyday as a routine. I usually read anywhere from 2-10 articles in each, depending upon what newsworthy events are breaking that day. Plus I have a number of books on history that I have going at any one time.
