My Reading on the Appointment of Lt.Gen. Anthony Tata
Putin has made this sort of maneuver in the past, in order to position for a future power play in Russia.
For example, when he "stepped down" from the Russian Presidency in 2008 for Constitutional reasons of term limits, and endorsed his Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev for President. Medvedev won, and appointed Putin Prime Minister for one term, and of course it was Putin, sliding into the background, circumventing Russia's Constitution, who continued to run the country. In 2012, they switched again, with Putin winning the Presidency back, and Medvedev going back to PM.
In Chess, a game that Russians are famous for playing expertly, this is called "Castling". As explained thusly;
---"Castling is a move in the game of chess involving a player's king and either of the player's original rooks. It is the only move in chess in which a player moves two pieces in the same move, and it is the only move aside from the knight's move where a piece can be said to "jump over" another.
Castling consists of moving the king two squares towards a rook on the player's first rank, then moving the rook to the square over which the king crossed. Castling may only be done if the king has never moved, the rook involved has never moved, the squares between the king and the rook involved are unoccupied, the king is not in check, and the king does not cross over or end on a square attacked by an enemy piece. Castling is one of the rules of chess and is technically a king move."--

By appointing Tata, circumventing Senate hearings and the nomination process, Trump and Barr set themselves up for their next move. By appointing him, in effect having him assume the role and responsibilities of the current Acting Deputy Defense Secretary for Policy Anderson, what happens next is that Anderson, now redundant, likely resigns after a short interval, and Tata slides in as Acting Deputy Secretary, also by appointment.
It is well known that Trump wants to fire Esper and Milley. As of now, we need to be on high alert, and prepared for their attempt to fire Esper first, sometime after Trump's nomination, and appoint Tata "acting" Secretary of Defense, also with no hearings or nomination process.
In question is the intention of Trump and Barr to invoke the 1807 Insurrection Act, (which Barr did to stop the Rodney King riots in LA under Bush 41) deploying the Military when the inevitable mass demonstrations begin in opposition to Trump's plan to void the Election result. They need a SOD who will not refuse to carry out orders as did Esper on that day in June of the infamous "photo op". So, like the Chess move described above, and similar moves by Trump's authoritarian mentor, Putin, this is actually two moves at once, this one with a time delay. One has to ask, in the dozen or more conversations Trump and Putin have had since June, given that they are not talking about Russia offering bounties or arming the Taliban, "what are they actually talking about"? This? Is Putin advising Trump on how to not be "weak", and consolidate authoritarian rule? Is Trump using Putin's playbook?
The question of whether this scenario is allowed to happen or not is in our hands. Nothing is set in stone. The potential chain of events I'm warning about has to be disrupted. Americans are beginning to see where we are headed. There are cracks in the GOP. It is time to kick the Chessboard off the table. We all have phones, now is the time to start using them to speak out, time is short.
