Today in History, June 8, 1789
Today is the 231st Anniversary of the Introduction into the US Congress of the Bill of Rights. 

Rather than some long thing on the subject which you all likely studied in HS Civics, I just want to reflect on one powerful Historical irony, which might have James Madison rolling in his grave.
There is a Nationwide organization that you all know of, whose name disgusts me so that I will not mention it, with an obsessive, myopic, neurotic, rage driven paranoid fixation on solely one Amendment. They support Candidates, including our current Fascist maniac President, who are systematically waging war against the remaining 9 Amendments of the Bill of Rights, a good number of the other 17 Amendments, and the delicately crafted construction of our Constitutional System, trying to rewrite it into the Constitution of the Confederate States of America. Like the Confederate Leaders, they couch their arguments as "resisting Dictatorship". Remember that John Wilkes Booth after assassinating Lincoln, screamed to the audience in Ford's Theater, "Sic Semper Tyrannis". "Thus Always to Tyrants". That is the spirit of Freedom which imbues this virtual political Cult. They make stupid ignorant arguments about how if the German People were armed, Hitler couldn't have kept power. Well, we have a Hitler type in the White House now, and Americans are heavily armed, whose side is the Gun Lobby on?
This organization thinks a Tyrant is any leader who interferes with their property rights. The Confederacy saw Slaves as their property. They are prepared to kill people to protect their property. They see the world as "Us vs Them". They are barbarians and fools, whose concept of freedom is the same as the Confederacy. And they shamelessly support the President who is destroying every single aspect of the Constitution, and the underlying intent of its Framers, in the name of that one Amendment which they have deconstructed into a "License to Kill, " giving them the right to stockpile Military grade weaponry, shoot people, to keep and protect what is theirs, not to defend their Country. They are not for the Bill of Rights, the proof of it is their backing of a Fascist President who is systematically dismantling all but one, in the name of their perverted notion of Freedom.

Milton Friedman- The Man Who Revived Fascist Economics, and Called It "Freedom".

  You may have heard the name before, as he was featured in a PBS Series, titled "Free To Choose", also the title of his most famous and misnamed book. He was a prolific author, and widely publicized by Conservative News Media and Magazines, especially by the followers of William F. Buckley. In fact, Milton Friedman is the current top economic advisor to the so-called "movement conservatives", from Nixon to Reagan, to Newt Gingrich and Trumpworld,  and is still to this day the main architect of the GOP approach to dealing with the present economic crisis, though he has been keeping a low profile. A very low profile. In fact, six feet under. He is currently dead, and has been for 14 years, yet his horrific philosophy continues to stalk about, haunting us like the living dead animated by a Voodoo curse, burning live Chickens, chanting incantations, and propitiating the irrational forces of Britain's Adam Smith and his "Invisible Hand". How Do You Know If What You Are Reading Is True Or Useful? - A One Year Old Facebook Post

 How do we know whether what we are reading is true, or for that matter useful? There are many journalists in the US today who are not only excellent writers, but are just good people. They are well informed, have the best intentions and are highly professional.  I have to force myself to write, and it comes with great difficulty because I am blocked, and had little journalistic training. Without an editor I feel lost, and feel as though I want to rewrite everything or throw it out after I read it. Reading books and articles is my favorite hobby, and when I'm doing that I am in my happy place.  As of now I have 30 News and Magazine sites bookmarked and I read them everyday as a routine. I usually read anywhere from 2-10 articles in each, depending upon what newsworthy events are breaking that day. Plus I have a number of books on history that I have going at any one time.
