--1752 Benjamin Franklin tests the lightning conductor with his kite-flying experiment in Philadelphia.
What left is there to say about Benjamin Franklin? Scientist, Philosopher, Statesman, Revolutionary Leader, Law Giver, Philanthropist, Founding Father, Abolitionist Leader, Founder of Libraries, the US Post office, Fire Departments, Public Schools, Hospitals, Diplomat, and Printer. On his tombstone all that he wanted to be known for was that he was a Printer, even with every thing he accomplished in life. This is how much value he placed in the power of the written word, something not to be taken for granted in a time when the American President is an illiterate Baboon.
His Epitaph:
The Body of B. Franklin Printer; Like the Cover of an old Book, Its Contents torn out, And stript of its Lettering and Gilding, Lies here, Food for Worms. But the Work shall not be wholly lost: For it will, as he believ’d, appear once more, In a new & more perfect Edition, Corrected and Amended By the Author.
