In Lindsey Graham’s Face?
Martha and I are on this story. Two things: first, is the obvious issue that LG, who had been a moderate Republican, close to McCain, had a history of Bipartisan cooperation, enjoying strong relationships with Hillary and Biden, (not withstanding his vote to Impeach Clinton) and also had made brutally honest direct personal attacks on Trump, has in a short time morphed into something unrecognizable to people who know him. Hillary said, " I don't know what happened to him, it's like his brain was stolen." He has become the lowest form of partisan craven Trump apologist and bootlicker, who has abandoned any attempt at appearing principled.
Second, is that it's likely that whatever skeletons are in LG's closet, huddled in there with him, Trump is using it as leverage, in effect breaking him. The record shows a lot of Russian money going into Grahams campaigns, by Oligarchs that are cutouts for Putin. Putin is the World's richest man, controlling over 300 billion in offshore hot money, businesses, and corporations from which he gets a cut. Like a true Czar, he gets a cut of everything. Putin does not live an extravagant lifestyle, he uses the fortune and people in whose name he manages it to conduct intelligence warfare and operations. That is why he's so pissed at the US Sanctions, and has been leveraging Trump to get them lifted. Putin's money is tied up, and he wants it released to use it. So, LG has been the beneficiary of a little bit of Putins gratis through Russian business people who are fronts for him. Russian spies like Maria Butina were deployed into the US Conservative movement as Honey traps to profile and play American politicians and organizations, like the NRA. So, where I'm going with this is that some of LG's hookups may have been arranged for him by the FSB, and that Putin has "kompramat" in large amounts on him. And, this file on Graham could well have been one of Putin's Christmas Presents to Trump a couple of years ago.
So, picture this; Trump is overheard denouncing Haiti and African Countries as "Shithole countries", and wants to cut off immigration from these countries. He says, "why not Norway, why can't we get immigrants from Norway"? So, Graham blasts Trump in the meeting, (this happened) then Graham was asked by the press if Trump really said these things. Graham said he did, and I told him you can't say these things, it's wrong. Consider the possibility that not long after, Trump talks to Putin, and says, this Graham guy just fucked me, you got anything on him I can use? I'll make it worth your while. And Putin delivers the dossier, Graham is brought to heel, and becomes as docile as a puppy. Trump says to Graham, "you get Kavanaugh confirmed and put yourself out there on it or I'll burn you.
Since then, Graham has been a pod person. The Kavanaugh hearings were the point at which it was clear Trump had broken him. I suspect the Russians had everything on Grahams secret life, gave it to Trump in a Quid Pro Quo, and here we are. I believe US Intelligence has the whole picture as well, and may use the threat of outing him to force him to step away, retire, etc. In this period, the warfare and infighting will be unlike anything, because a faction of the US Intelligence establishment is mobilizing to bring Trump down. He is seen as our worst National Security threat. Trump allies like LG will be casualties, and there'll be others. We will see things happen that are bizarre, spectacular, and unprecedented. That's my take on this, some speculation, but grounded in the real world. FWIW.
