From March 31, 2020--The Implications of Trump's Hatred for First Responders, Frontline Healthcare, and War Heroes
So, you've all seen the coverage of Trump's attacks on the Healthcare professionals in NYC. Rather than respond directly to this, I think it's useful for a minute to address where this attack is coming from. It's easy to give it short shrift and just say he's a venal a*hole and leave it at that. But, in the hope of educating some of my hopeless dear friends, I will comment on it.
First, is to remember that Trump is a draft Dodger. His father paid off a corrupt Doctor to give Donald a fake diagnosis of Bone Spurs, to get his deferrment during Vietnam. That's different than being a "Conscientious Objector" or an Anti-War activist. There was no principle involved, simply a selfish desire to survive, succeed and get rich. I'm not going to say he is a complete coward, because he is a ferocious though unprincipled fighter for his own self-interest and that of his corrupt family. He may merely be a "physical coward", who because of his personal vanity is afraid of getting his appearance messed up.
Second, because of his likely physical cowardice, and out of control ego, his desire for personal adoration, attention and approbation drives him to deeply resent and attack others who do heroic things because they upstage him. Hence, his attacks on War Hero John McCain, the Khan family who were the Gold Star parents of the KIA soldier who were honored at the Dem Convention in 2016, his outrageous lies that he was at ground zero after 9-11 helping out the 1st responders, ( actually checking on his properties, then bragging how his building survived) and now, of course his brutal sadistic attacks on the frontline Healthcare professionals who are not stealing masks, but "stealing his thunder" in NYC.
Third, and most dangerous, is that there are handfuls of political leaders who have emerged from this crisis as true leaders, taking real responsibility and making their hearts bigger to care for thousands and millions of others, such as Gov Cuomo, Dr Fauci, etc. Trump, out of pure vile vindictiveness, envy, and rage at people acting in a selfless fashion, showing him to be the self absorbed coward that he is, will then declare War upon those standout leaders who then become Trump's targets for retaliation, isolation, withheld resources, bad mouthing, etc.
So, the implications of Trump's rage against the Healthcare professionals of NYC are truly frightening, not just in terms of the potential damage of masks being withheld from NYC, but the sheer explosion of the death rate due to Trump continuing this pattern in using his Nero like largesse to reward his friends and punish his enemies by deliberate misallocation of vital resources and spreading disinformation, leading people toward patterns of self-destructive behavior, as we have seen with the Trump allied Megachurches, spreading the infection to possibly thousands.
The personality disorders of the President which have gone untreated and ignored up to this point, are the biggest "X Factor" variables in any attempt by people using statistical models to forecast the spread of infection and death rate. Try to keep this in mind, when you watch Trump's next Live Press Conference, and he starts discussing White House statistical modeling.
