Comments on "Just Security" Article 7/27/2020 re: The Durham Investigation-Has Russian Intelligence Co-opted US Intel Community?
People should read this article from "Just Security", to be forewarned that Barr and Durham are currently acting to "weaponize" the DOJ, to not only defend Trump's criminal actions, but to investigate, prosecute, and jail Trump's enemies pro-actively.
They are currently attempting to deconstruct the entirety of the Russia investigations, the Mueller investigations, and the impeachment, for the purpose of destroying the mutual enemies of Trump and Vladimir Putin.
I've been following this because of my previous involvement with people who are currently aiding and assisting Barr and Durham. I'm referring to a group named VIPS, "Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity", which is comprised of retired officials of our national security Apparatus.
My old outfit worked with them in the early 2000's, holding joint press conferences with Ray McGovern and others to oppose torture, renditioning, and White House politicization of intel led by Cheney, Rumsfeld, Libby, and Wolfowitz, who demanded of CIA actionable intelligence, real or not, on WMD and so forth to justify their war plans after 9-11. That led to the travesty of Powell vouching for the discredited source "Curveball" in his UN speech motivating the resolution to go into Iraq, claiming Iraq assisted Mohammed Atta on 9-11, and had "aluminum tubes" being employed on mobile vehicles in centrifuges, all bogus. Later, Joe Wilson, who we also worked with, exposed the Niger "yellow cake" fraud, and in retaliation Cheney outed his wife, Valerie Plame, who was a CIA NOC Agent. (Non-Official Cover) We also opposed efforts to use the Patriot Act to turn the US into a surveillance state. We fought all of that, and worked with VIPS at the time.
Included in this group were people I had respect for, based on their work with us in DC. It included Larry Johnson, Ray McGovern, Scott Ritter, Larry Wilkerson, Joe Wilson, Mike Gravel, and Bill Binney, among others. I never met or knew them, but my collaborators at that time did.
Today, McGovern, Binney, and Gravel are working to discredit the Russia investigation and Mueller, calling his report "forensics free in their interviews with Fox." Binney was on Fox News this week, defending Roger Stone, attacking John Brennan, Biden and Obama, and saying there was NO Russian election hack at all in 2016. Mike Gravel is speaking at events organized publicly by my ex friends, basically saying that the entirety of the "Steele Report" was an MI-6 run fraud, which was used to "unmask" Michael Flynn, in order to start the whole thing. They are retailing the line from Trump, Barr, and Giuliani that "Crowdstrike" was a DNC operation to frame Putin and the Russians for the hack done by Ukraine, which is nothing but a Russian piece of "desinformatziya". And they are saying that there is no Russian threat in 2020 to our election.
The Steele Report was at some points sketchy, but I know what was accurate in it. My ex-friends worked with Russian intelligence to undermine Hillary Clinton, and attended the infamous "Russia Today" Conference in Moscow which Steele reported on, also attended by Flynn and Jill Stein. (we had quit in disgust years before the 2016 operations) I also know that based on the testimony of Douglas Caddy, a Houston Lawyer and GOP insider, my ex-associates tried to set up a back channel with Roger Stone, representing the Trump campaign with their Russian intelligence contacts. My old outfit also worked with Putin advisor Sergei Glazyev to cover for what Russia did in annexing Crimea and Sevastopol, making the case that it was justified.
So, this operation by Barr and Durham is much worse than even the authors of this article outline. Its implications are that elements of our national security apparatus that have been resisting Trump, Barr, and Pompeo's "wing dings", have been substantially weakened, and that there has been some corruption factor introduced which has affected people I used to have respect for. You can say they are retired, but that doesn't mean they are "out." No one who was in the CIA is ever fully out. Something has gone way wrong with some of these folks.
I suspect that the Trump loyalists peddling this Putin disinformation are tied into a network of extreme fundamentalists and Armageddonists of the same type as Pompeo. If I had the ability to do a counter intelligence investigation on where this is coming from, that's where I would start, in all of the alphabet agencies. I would look at NGO's, and OGA's. (Other Government Agencies) as well.
Years ago, we put together a report on the Temple Mount Foundation, a private network with big funding from the Evangelicals, who wanted to provoke World War III, by tunneling under the Dome of the Rock Mosque to dynamite it, thereby bringing about the rebuilding of Solomon's Temple in order to start a global religious War. This was their proactive plan to fulfill Bible Prophecy, to start Armageddon themselves. I wish I had a copy of that report, since we named names of a lot of crazies in our national security establishment like General Ammerman who were tied up with this. These are the types who are fanatics, like Lt. General Tata, who would be part of the leadership of Trump's and Barr's new "SS", to carry out the orders to destroy our Constitutional protections today.
I'm putting this out there in the hope that some folks pick it up, and do something with it if they think these are valid questions.
