Ideology, Categories, and Radical Nominalism-- Part 2. "Living in the Moment" is Living Death
If you haven't read Part 1 yet, you'll need to back out, bring that up and give it a read, since I laid the groundwork there for what follows. I've probably succeeded in offending most people so far. If I haven't I'll go back to the drawing board and try harder. --LFR
So, you are wondering, why all of this hubbub over one person, and one word. Ugh.
Does anyone remember the Charlie Chaplin film when the "Little Tramp" picked up a fallen Red Warning Flag hanging from the back of a lumber truck, when he ran down the street chasing the truck to give it back? Within five minutes, he had a mob of hundreds chasing behind him, half of which to lynch him, and the other half hoping he was leading them to a workers revolution.
That brings us to Bernie Sanders. So called Democratic "Socialist".
Bernie has had a long and largely unproductive political career, as the elected Senator from the Land of Ben and Jerry, Vermont. Vermont, as you know, is a very diverse state, whose population is mostly a cross section between that of Newfoundland, and the Main Line, just outside Philadelphia. The authorities there prohibit visitors from entry unless they are accessorized with Eddie Bauer, and have Alligators on their Polos. Politically, they are a mix of Conservative and Liberal, and are likely to have large weapons arsenals at home to protect the hydroponic Pot farms in their large walk-in closets. Because of Sanders broad based political coalition of Preppies and Stepfords imported from Connecticut, and other dens of iniquitous "high breeding", being a New Englander, he adopted as a cause in the Senate protecting all Natural things from the people who vote for him. Vermont has a long history of preferring Nature over People. Three times in the 20th Century the State Houses of Vermont attempted Legislation to adopt compulsory Eugenical Sterilization for purposes of "Race Betterment, finally succeeding in 1931, I would describe this as a "Dark Moment" in the history of that State, but I'm afraid they might object to any part of their history being called Dark. So, imagine the cultural and psychological matrix of the younger generation of descendants of these bi-polar Nature worshipping Nazis who would come home from a hard day of work at the local clinic after castrating mentally handicapped people without anaesthesia like barnyard animals, then come home to a relaxing evening of chopping firewood and tapping Maple trees. And there you have the initial wave of Bernie Sanders base of support, which returned him to the Senate time and again as the "Independent" Candidate of his " Verkochte" Party of testicle severing hiking enthusiasts. And from there, his movement grew.
In a sense, I think you, my friends, believe you can see where I'm going with my little rant. Well, no.
Surprise, I'm not going there. I'm not going to attack Socialism. I like Socialism. FDR was a Socialist and a Hamiltonian, and he borrowed from everybody including Abe Lincoln and John Maynard Keynes to get us out of the Depression, and he did.
Bernie Sanders is not a Socialist. He. Is. A. Green. And, despite everyone being so diligent and conscious of how important it is now to protect our planet, I will make the argument that Bernie Sanders, Green Bernie, is not what he says he is, or what you want him to be. He is not good for people or the Planet. And I will let it rip as I explain while offending even more people as we move onto Part 3, on the theme, "Why the Sanders Campaign is about "Hate Speech".
