Fact Checking Will Not Defeat Trump, or Fascism
So, some deep thoughts. I'm tired of hearing the News outline the running total of all lies told by Trump since elected. Not because I believe anything he has said, but because it diminishes the evil of each lie, which gets lost in the sea of 62, 496 lies that have been catalogued by CNN. It lessens the horror and moral revulsion, contributing only to the sense of fatigue and numbness that sets in.
Without hypothesis and analysis, facts, data, and information mean very little. Doctors need more than vital signs and Lab work to make a diagnosis. It requires subjective insight, not just numbers. Only those with love, passion, and empathy, can see through the fog of data to find the problem, identify it, and treat it. That is true in Medicine Politics, Science, and Economics, Government, Administration of Justice, Global relations, and human relationships. Fact checking alone will not deter a lifelong professional liar. Exposing lies alone, will not energize the opposition, because the opposition, like people in general, also often lie to protect or cover themselves, so they identify with people who are caught lying, and will not be inspired by fact checkers.
Real revolutions are characterized by human subjective dynamics, not static processes that can be deconstructed into numbers, algorithms, data, bytes of information, or reductionist categories of facts. This is why polls are meaningless. Polls tell you only what those who drafted the questions want you to believe.
Facts themselves are like animal tracks in the mud. They can tell you "what" species made the footprint, but can't tell you "why" it is there.
When it comes to "the what" of the current crisis, that's easy to figure out. The "why" is the tough part, which requires hypothesis, analysis, and subjective insight. We are human beings, not digital projections in an alternate Universe as in "The Matrix". The proof is in the human suffering we see, and the sense of Joy and Pain we can feel. Try to think of a fact that explains Joy. Joy and happiness should be the means and the end of our lifetimes. What gives us joy is Love, and Discovery. What is more important than "facts" in and of themselves is how we discover what they mean.
Adolph Hitler brainwashed the German population using the method of the "Big Lie". What similarly Trump and his inner circle call "Alternative Facts" He blamed Germany's problems on the Jews, and would make claims about how the Jews controlled the finances of the Country, and that is why Germany blah blah ...etc. What our opposition groups and Media are accomplishing by "Fact Checking" Trump is the equivalent of fact checking Hitler on what he said about Jews. Most people then knew they were lies, and didn't need to be told. PEOPLE WERE AFRAID TO DO ANYTHING. How do you inspire others to overcome fear? By discussing the dynamics of History, how these kinds of crises were solved, and how fights for Justice have been fought and won or lost in the past, and by leading the way yourself, you can accomplish more than simply outlining a chronology of events, and listing "Who's Who?.
In the Intelligence World, we used to call "Fact Checkers" Turd Gatherers. Does it matter if we say we catch Donald Trump in 52,000 or 63,000 lies big and small at this point? I would say we need to destroy his movement by destroying the Brainwash program that controls them, which means changing the Culture, not giving people "information". They have more than enough information at this point, what is lacking is the will to fight. Ok, I'm done for now.
