  Some Thoughts Regarding Americans On The Occasion Of Our First New Years Eve In Mexico- Since I starting writing in earnest, I've posted a sort of New Years themed article on each of the last two years to address some of the important issues facing us. These have been both political and personal in nature, and have included a vain attempt on my part to make a political forecast, a sort of "the year to come" piece. Today I write from southern Mexico where Martha and I have begun a new life. We are immersed in it throughout our day, meeting the people, making new friends, learning about the history and culture, enjoying its sights, sounds and amenities, and in my own case learning the language. Irony Of The Day- Candace Owens Goes Full Lizard Fox News commentator Candace Owens has been in full frontal attack mode against her very own "Führer"  Donald Trump since their interview last week, with regard to his defense of the covid vaccine as effective and safe.  The vaccine, which was developed by our best scientists occurred despite his political interference, trying to rush it to market before clinical trials established their efficacy, (remember he needed an "October Surprise" before the election) and really had nothing to do with him, except that once he lost the election he sabotaged the roll-out as an act of destructive revenge and rage. He would not cooperate with the transition team. And, he still opposes mandates, encouraging his supporters to continue spreading the Virus in the name of defending their "Freedom". Yet the vaccine is the one and only thing which he can point to as something good which happened during his Presidency, no thanks...

  In warfare of whatever variety, regardless of the venue, it is essential to hit the enemy weak flank when they don't expect it or can't defend it. Head on open field frontal assaults rarely work, as was proven by General Lee at Gettysburg with Picketts Charge. The reason to hit the flank is to put your adversary in a position where their next movements and decisions are self defeating, and what had been their previous advantage becomes their liability. What is Trump's weak flank that needs to be hit right now? It is the Russia operation. I'm going out on a limb in saying this, but I believe that Trump was having extensive consultations with Putin from June 1st 2020 through January 6th on how to overturn the election and keep power. I have believed that the NARA records of transcripts of Trump's phone calls are the thing which has provoked Trump's hysterical legal efforts to assert Executive Privilege. He needs to keep these records buried, if they still exist....

Many of us who are concerned with the state of the US and the ongoing crisis, struggle everyday to understand not only what is true or not, but how to arrive there and make sense of it. Our socially conscious mental energies as consumers of information are not directed as they once were toward the question, "what happened", rather "how do we know what really happened, and who do we believe"? There are no Walter Cronkites living who when they tell us "that's the way it is" that Americans as a whole fully believe.  I'll take up the issue by first making a general assertion that irony and paradox are both the subject and the substance of truth seeking, as opposed to just "facts", in my not so humble opinion.
