Don't Kid Yourself- New York Legal Cases Will Not Solve Our Trump Problem

Image
In the spirit of busting bubbles and ruining a few fantasies-- Donald Trump will not be jailed, or seriously inconvenienced by investigations at any level, State, or Federal, for financial crimes. Not on taxes, money laundering, loan fraud, charity fraud, rape or sexual harassment, ad infinitum.  He is soon to be an ex-President of the United States, with 70 million plus voters, billionaire backers, huge legal and Media resources, hundreds of Judges in his pocket, and 50 years of experience in evading prosecution. There are far too many people high up in the power structure whose existence is tied up with the "crazy train" of his disgusting career to simply allow him to meet his downfall that way. If you believe that he will go down in the same manner as Al Capone, you are kidding yourselves.  What is the source of this kind of self-delusion which you hear from pundits and others? Well, some of it is just wishful thinking, mixed with rage and anger, a bit of victimizatio...

Vladimir Putin, the Man With His Shirt Off Caught With His Pants Down-- Part 2

Alexey Navalny  Vladimir Putin, The Man With His Shirt Off Caught With His Pants Down-- Part 2 Surprisingly, the former KGB Colonel, FSB head, superspy and Russian strongman has been reduced to covering his rear and delivering spin which is as comical and patronizing as his asset on Pennsylvania Avenue. Comical, not in the sense of funny, but absurdity. His attempt to claim that Navalny is an Agent of the "US Special Services" is a diversion, typical of the way Russians "change the subject" when caught lying, as they seek escape in a fusillade of "whataboutism", as I described yesterday in Part 1.  Reality is that the fact Navalny is still living is not proof that he was not targeted by Putin's FSB for assasination with Russian made Novichuk. It is proof that the team that was deployed was incompetent, failed, was a Keystone Cops Amateur Hour operation, and that the individuals involved are likely going to disappear after a decent interval.  His argume...

Vladimir Putin, The Man With No Shirt On, Caught With His Pants Down--  Part 1 Woody Allen made a film some 50 years ago called "Take the Money and Run", which had a famous bank robbery scene, in which he handed the bank teller a note saying "I have a gun", and then gave the teller a bag to fill up with money. The teller, looking carefully at the note asked, "what, you have a gub"? No, Allen's character said, "my handwriting was bad because I was rushed, it says gun". The teller responds "I don't know, are you sure, it really looks like 'gub'  to me". And of course they go back and forth for a while, before the inevitable fail unfolds, descending into the predictable hilarious absurdity you expect from Woody.  In reading about certain events this week, I thought of that scene. I think in a bit you will see why.  This week has seen the reports of two related Intelligence bombshells, both of which are relevant to the cha...
